It has been just about a month since September 1, when the Class of 2027 first became eligible to speak with college coaches, take unofficial visits, and make early verbal commitments. The first wave of activity has already reshaped recruiting boards, and Pennsylvania continues to be one of the deepest hotbeds in the country. Spring 2026 is still months away, but if you're from PA, you can already start to feel and smell lacrosse season in the air. With rosters shifting, stars emerging, and programs reloading, it's time for the “Way Too Early Rankings.” These lists are less about today's results and more about projecting which teams and players will define the season ahead. They're speculative by nature—built on returning talent, transfers, and summer showcase performance—but they give us an early blueprint of where the power lies in PA lacrosse.

He received All-State (EPCLA) recognition in 2025 for his valiant efforts. Trymbiski continued to cash in on the summer circuit as he was a leading scorer on the Nike All-American team and a top contributor to the stat sheet for Philly's New Balance All-American team. He showcased an upper echelon lax IQ, vision, hands, and relentless off-ball work in fast-paced offenses. Will paints the pipe with proper overhand mechanics that can leave goalies frozen. Stahl laid the body, scooped up a couple (50/50) ground balls, cleared effectively and drew a penalty for the man-up offense. He runs the break with a well-developed lax IQ, hitting the open man. Keenan picked up an opportunistic goal vs DeMatha (Md.) and finished a slow break as a trailing middie vs Christian Brothers (N.J.). He has a strong sense of competitiveness on the defensive end. Stahl shows balanced footwork, discipline in his approach, and awesome angle play. He can line up on the wing and is a force on the crease within the man-down defensive unit. He gets down the hash in a hurry with either hand and he can crank it up quickly. Logan showed the willingness to take a lefty rip against Haverford early in the year and a strong right-handed take against Springfield-Delco in the PIAA (3A) Semi-Finals when he scored a smart, fundamental, overhand bouncer. He is fast and will merry-go-around the cage from behind with a big circle dodge. Riggione is starting to figure out pick play, which is going to create matchup nightmares in the B/L or L/B scenario.
The “super sophs” return as juniors. Will they come back as fat cats, or keep dominating? Some proven 2025s departed for college, including the goalie who delivered in clutch moments down the stretch. The funny thing is, Haverford might actually be getting an upgrade in the cage with Notre Dame commit Jackson Gillis, a junior. With their wealth of talent and head coach Brendan Dawson's steady hand, the Fords again face a stout schedule that makes an undefeated run unlikely — but if any program can separate from the status quo over the next two years, it's Haverford.

Costa has speed and the ball instincts to give him an advantage on any loose ball on the field. He routinely gets first-time ground balls, picking up possession safely and securely while running to space. Anthony is an "X-Factor" who can evade checks with the ball in his stick, break the limits and set the pace. Chris had a sensational sophomore season and was simply too good to be ignored. He is part of a terrific trio of 2027s that can produce points in a hurry for Haverford's highly potent offense. Burnetta fights to finish in front of the goal, allowing him to increase his angle and probability to draw a penalty with an "And 1" type of play. He can change direction on a dime and finalize short sticks. Chris is comfortable posting up at 10 on the hash and freeing his hands for a quality look at the cage. He is a relentless rider, reminding us that turnovers in the middle of the field usually equate to 1/2 a goal.

Last year saw a rare breakdown — Malvern's defense fell out of sync down the stretch. The offense shouldn't be let off the hook, but when you score double digits in a championship and still lose, the spotlight shifts to the other side of the ball. With [player_tooltip player_id='19759' first='Thomas' last='Ploszay'] in goal and [player_tooltip player_id='123039' first='TJ' last='McDermott'] anchoring the face-off unit, the Friars have a proven specialty combo that could give them an easy money advantage against anyone. If the defense gels, Ploszay has the tools to make an All-American leap as a senior — the type of season that reminds everyone why some players reclass or transfer to stay at the top. Malvern has been a factory for over two decades, but last year was a reminder: to be champion, you have to play through the last day. Will they rise to the challenge?

Danny's play was inspiring from an individual effort standpoint, but not contagious enough for the Friars to finish the job junior year. He stepped on the scene as a sophomore, scoring 17 points in 2024. Riely ripped one on LaSalle's home turf during a live scout, sending shockwaves through the state early in the season. He broke the internet with a clip of the day that exceeded 10K views. Danny showed promise in prior seasons with bench erupting goals against Calvert Hall (MD) and an assist vs. No. 1 Lawrenceville of New Jersey. They can dominate if they lock in. Another year of recruiting and gelling could turn this roster into a national power. Their firepower is real — just ask IMG, which fell last year — but head-scratching losses to teams like Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, Academy of the New Church, and Western Reserve Academy (OH) show the inconsistency. Since arriving in Pottstown, Barbee has impressed against elite national competition. He stood out in a live scout against IMG Academy and showed his ability to match up hip-to-hip with prolific scorers at Brunswick. Defensively, he keeps his feet moving and throws heavy check combinations, consistently disrupting opposing dodgers. In transition, Isaiah uses his speed to push the pace, clear with confidence, and spark offense. Barbee's versatility also shows up on the offensive end. He has proven he can initiate, operate as a dangerous dodger from behind the goal, and finish with authority. Isaiah made some noise when he split down the left alley, and ripped a missile past one of the top-ranked goalies in the country from SCHA last season. Barbee's ability to impact the game on both ends, paired with speed, footwork, and physicality, makes him a true two-way threat. Has the tools to elevate a program at the next level!

The Cougars are carrying the crown with All-State stars [player_tooltip player_id='20026' first='Brad' last='Barber'] (Maryland) and [player_tooltip player_id='20475' first='Luke' last='Valerio'] (Penn State) returning. Springfield-Delco lost some key pieces to graduation, but the firepower remains to challenge the PIAA. The question isn't talent — it's cohesion. Younger players will rotate in, and the team must mesh fast enough to defend the crown and prove they're more than a one-year wonder.

Tommy Toomey has been contributing meaningful minutes for Springfield-Delco since his sophomore year, helping anchor one of the top-ranked programs in the state. Tommy is a long-stick midfielder with an ideal frame, combining size, speed, and athleticism to make an impact in transition as well as in settled defense. He shuffles his feet with urgency, stays low in an athletic stance, and uses superior angle play to disrupt opposing offenses. Toomey keeps his stick active in passing lanes for interceptions and ground balls. In a matchup this past year vs St. Joe's Prep, he scored a goal and added an assist. As a senior, Tommy may be asked to stay home more on the close defense, a challenge he's ready for. His field awareness, efficient decision-making in transition, and ability to read the blindside double make him a reliable playmaker in pressure situations. Beyond his physical tools, he's a natural leader who can rally his team after setbacks and push them to bounce back stronger. With his blend of skill, IQ, and presence, Tommy is poised to be a cornerstone of the Cougars' defense in 2026. Verbally committed to High Point.

Jared Kennedy became a difference-maker for Springfield-Delco in 2025, showing he can take over when it matters most. Jared came up huge in the PIAA 3A quarterfinals, scoring six goals to power the Cougars past previously undefeated Easton. He thrives on the right wing, where his signature sidewinder release makes him tough to cover. Kennedy is comfortable dodging, creating space with quick fakes before letting it fly. He knows his role and delivered in high-pressure moments, including the game-winning goal in the state final against Radnor. Jared is smooth with his hands around the cage and confident in traffic. He plays with the pace that defines lacrosse in 19064. Kennedy blends speed, precision, and timing to consistently find scoring opportunities. He is now another proven, reliable option for the Cougars as they chase more hardware. Verbally committed to Catholic University.

Radnor is a steady threat as one of the state's most well-rounded programs. After finishing runner-up and ending a streak of four straight State Championships, the Raptors return with a potent offense capable of challenging again. [player_tooltip player_id='141718' first='Zach' last='French'] rounds out one of the state's most dangerous attack lines, keeping Radnor a legitimate contender despite being a 2A-sized school competing up in classification. Their goalie should improve since his true freshman season, and look poised to make the next step. The team's plug-and-play zone defense, combined with consistent player development, provides the balance and depth to make another deep run in the PIAA.

He helped the Raptors win the PIAA 3A State Championship in 2024, putting more respect on the family name with 25 assists as a sophomore. Goldstein continues to develop into a complete player, whereas before he was primarily a distributor. He totaled three goals and two assists in a stunning 11-3 victory over LaSalle this past season. Tommy is a versatile weapon that brings balance to his team's attack line. He shows a long-standing lineage of lacrosse IQ and understands the importance of rebounding from a loss. Some have dubbed him Tommy "The Final Boss" Goldstein, who has been one of the fastest players in the area since his days as a youngster. He grew up playing up but has since found a new gear at the Varsity level. Tommy looks to break the 100-point milestone as a senior. He focuses on crisp passing, dodging hard, and playing a complete game for 48 minutes. Petrone suffered a bad break with a season-ending injury last year in what some coaches called a cheap shot that was an illegal hit. Injuries are part of the game, but he would have definitely helped RALA's chances at defending their titles and given his team a much better chance at putting points on the board in the state championship game against the Cougars. Finn is a slick scorer who plays smoothly like most coaches' sons. When healthy in the lineup, his lefty skill set makes the team's offense undeniably more coherent.
