Last night, this agile, athletic, and versatile pole displayed a well-rounded skill set. Piontek was a menacing on-ball defender who caused turnovers with powerful stick checks. He also flashed excellent team defensive skills with his well-timed slides and double teams. Still, what impressed the most about this Brown commit was his ability to scoop up ground balls in traffic and then sprint out of the defensive end. On those clears and fast breaks, Piontek showcased his separation speed and elusive stick maneuvers. Piontek made smart decisions with the ball on every one of those pushes up field.

I could have picked 8-10 other players to highlight from Team Ten – they’re just that good. But since I have yet to highlight a pole in this piece, Piontek deserves some love for his play at LSM. A number of things impress me about Piontek, who will help make up what should be an awesome defensive unit for the Churchmen next year. His motor is nonstop, his stick work is clean, and he plays with physicality, never hesitating to lay a big hit. On top of that, he’s a stud in transition and always seems to make the right decision. I thought he turned in a great performance at Great 8, and he’s been even better in the early goings at Showtime.
