Last month, Simonetti proved to be a highly skilled, versatile, and extremely gritty FOGO. One item that really popped about Simonetti’s skill set was the variety of ways by which he won faceoffs. He executed clean clamps, sending him sprinting into the offensive end. Simonetti also smartly used defensive exits to secure possession. His ability to win the clamp and then snap the ball to one of his wings was remarkable. Other times, Simonetti spun on his opponent, boxed him out, and then picked up the GB. Of course, Simonetti dropped to the turf and grinded out wins too. During events in June, Simonetti also displayed a high IQ. Specifically, his decision-making on when to push transition scoring chances versus when to value possession and drop the ball off to a teammate was always on point. Simonetti’s non-stop motor and active stick produced impressive ground ball wins in traffic.
