One of the top 2029s in the state is on the move, as Strohl is transferring from Plymouth Whitemarsh to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. As freshman starter at PW, Strohl scooped up 138 ground balls and caused 51 turnovers. With his imposing size, athleticism, active stick, and polished footwork, Strohl is an absolute ball hawk. Strohl excels at disrupting opposing offenses by pressing out on ball carriers and then causing turnovers. This rising sophomore is also a master at getting into ball carriers early in their dodge and moving them off their intended path. During his impressive freshman campaign, Strohl demonstrated that he can execute stick checks, lifts, pokes, and can openers that put the ball on the turf. With his long wingspan and anticipation skills, Strohl excels at intercepting/deflecting passes too. Lastly, Strohl is an excellent team defender with a remarkable understanding of slide packages as well as when to apply double teams.   

I know that NCAA compliance regulations do not allow college coaches to offer a 2029 prospect right now, but I am going to suspend that rule for this article and buy early on Strohl. That combination made Strohl a tremendous 1v1 defender behind the net. Additionally, Strohl was an excellent team defender who flashed a solid understanding of slide packages as well as when to execute double teams. Lastly, Strohl displayed a knack for intercepting or knocking down passes.         

Strohl is an intriguing defensive prospect with remarkable length and power, noteworthy speed, and polished stick skills. That list of assets enables Strohl to have a significant impact at both ends. College coaches will love his dominating play in the middle third of the field. On defense, Strohl can cause turnovers by pressing out on ball carriers and then striking quickly with a slap, lift, or poke. Or Strohl can patiently pursue an opponent and wear him out with his physicality and heavy stick checks until he coughs up the rock. In both situations, once the ball hits the turf, Strohl’s aggressive stick will vacuum up the GB. With the ball in his mesh, Strohl’s long strides and ability to run through contact enable him to push the fast break. In transition, Strohl is a legitimate threat to go coast-to-coast for a goal.
