This Notre Dame signee displayed elite shooting skills as he scored three goals during MP’s win over EA. Riely’s first goal was an overhand bomb from up top. He second was a sidearm snipe from the wing. Riely completed his first half hat trick with a crazy goal right before the end of the 2nd quarter. Coming out of a MP time out, the ball was behind the cage. Riely set a screen up high, then dove to the crease where he came open. The pass intended for Riely was deflected and bounced on the turf in front of the cage, but Riely managed to scoop up the ball and then slipped a low shot into the net as he was body checked to the ground. The athleticism and hand eye coordination Riely displayed on that goal was remarkable.

was by far Malvern Prep’s most productive player by the 2025 season’s end for my money! Danny’s play was inspiring from an individual effort standpoint, but not contagious enough for the Friars to finish the job junior year. He stepped on the scene as a sophomore, scoring 17 points in 2024. Riely ripped one on LaSalle’s home turf during a live scout, sending shockwaves through the state early in the season. He broke the internet with a clip of the day that exceeded 10K views. Danny showed promise in prior seasons with bench erupting goals against Calvert Hall (MD) and an assist vs. No. 1 Lawrenceville of New Jersey. He started dominating somewhere along the way as a junior and is now positioning himself nicely for a strong senior season as the focal point of the offense. Riely is the total package, reliable on the wing, and was just as good as anybody last year in the midfield, so his stick continues to rise. Verbally committed to Notre Dame.

Riely’s flashes as a sophomore on a stacked Malvern team earned him a spot deep in the Top 100. Almost a year later, Riely has turned into one of the more improved midfielders in the class. A two-way threat who took on more and more defensive reps as the year went on (in addition to his offensive runs), Riely is built Philly tough and incredibly athletic, able to run all day and make an impact on both ends. At NHSLS, he gobbled up key groundballs, executed some punt return clears and chipped in offensively. Having flipped from Cornell to Notre Dame earlier this week, Riely gives the Fighting Irish another horse in their seemingly never-ending stable. At the next level, it’s easy to envision him in a defensive midfield role, chugging down the field in transition and making things happen.

Having seen Malvern play a half dozen times this year, Tuesday’s contest felt like Riely’s best performance of the year. His role has changed a bit since last year and in recent weeks, as he’s started to take more defensive reps in addition to playing offense. Riely held up well in coverage on Tuesday (though he did get beat for a goal), but it was his opportunistic and timely goals that made him deserving of a shoutout. He scored the tying goal on an assist from Bickel on what looked like a set piece, then followed that up with a huge stepdown after a preposterous feed from Bickel that was described in full above. Another hard-nosed athlete in the mold of so many Malvern middies that came before him, Riely is someone who I’m looking forward to continuing to follow as his career progresses — I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on either side of the ball once he matriculates to Cornell.

Riley is a hardnosed and athletic midfielder with an unlimited upside. His quick bursts of speed and nice bag of dodges allow him to move past most defenders with ease. Once Riely has created an odd man situation, he can effectively shoot or distribute on the run. Riely’s ability to absorb stick checks and body contact will on the move is noteworthy. With his speed, agility, and physicality, Reily can play as a two-way mid who can drop back to provide a solid defensive effort.
