Last season Lucovich was an offensive force for Malvern Prep (39 G & 38 A), and it appears that trend is going to continue here in 2026. Lucovich (Penn State commit) registered 3 goals for Malvern this past week as he helped the Friars win both their games. Lucovich is one of the best off-ball players in the state and that skill set was on full display again in MP’s wins over Boys Latin (MD) and Loyola Blakefield (MD). Against Boys Latin, a well-timed cut to the back post by Lucovich sprung him open for a beautiful catch and dunk goal on the crease. Lucovich also cooked a few defenders with his quick burst as he dodged from the wing as well as from behind the net. His ability to shoot / pass with both hands was very evident in both game this past week too.

In 2025 Lucovich was a major contributor (39 G & 38 A) for Malvern Prep’s high-powered offense. He used the momentum from a fantastic sophomore year as a springboard for an incredible summer on the club circuit. The first item that pops about Lucovich’s skill set is his off-ball movement. His well-timed cuts and slashes to the cage produce easy scoring opportunities. Lucovich has also displayed the ability to slide or drift into open space while staying in the ball carrier’s line of vision. Once he has possession, Lucovich can find the back of the net in every way imaginable. Plus, Lucovich is equally effective shooting with his left or right hand. As a bonus to his scoring skills, Lucovich is a creative and timely feeder.

, was originally named in The Pennslvannia BIG 33 Debut Watch List. Last summer, he was named “All-Tournament Team” (2024) for Philadelphia in the Command division of this event. Danny shows growth in his development as he continues to work up to a leadership role. He continues to make a name for himself orchestrating the offense & being a super smooth feeder! Lucovich is impressive with his off-ball finishing as well.

Lucovich posted 22 points as a freshman for the Friars and hasn’t just continued that success — he’s emerged as a poised, intelligent presence on a Malvern offense stacked with heralded and experienced seniors. Armed with exceptional hands, his composure and field awareness belie his age. In my first live look at MP, Lucovich jumpstarted the offense with a first-half hat trick in a win over Boys’ Latin, then followed it up with two goals and an assist in a 10-2 drubbing of Georgetown Prep. A crafty 6’foot sophomore, he’s been stellar against one of the toughest schedules in recent memory, thriving with his off-ball savvy and elite finishing around the cage. Lucovich is sure to be among the most highly recruited ‘27s come September.

has a bright future ahead of him. He finished the day with a hat trick and an assist. His assist came off an endline play where he popped behind the cage and found Ortlieb cutting to the pipe. The rest of his points came from his off-ball movement. Lucovich excels at reading the back of his defender’s helmet and cutting to the ball. This makes it difficult for any goalie to move pipe-to-pipe. His quick hands give him the ability to finish the ball with precision.

In an attack group loaded with upperclassmen who are DI commits, Lucovich makes the most of his rotations into the lineup. Lucovich is comfortable operating from anywhere on the field, but this athletic and quick freshman is most effective when playing X attack. With his well-timed and instinctive off-ball movement, Lucovich frequently slides from X to the open far post for easy dunks. Lucovich can also take a defender behind the cage, and then execute a quick dodge to create scoring opportunities from himself or teammates. When he operates from the wing, Lucovich is an accurate stepdown shooter. In 2024, Lucovich registered 12 goals and 10 assists.

Lucovich has worked his way into a role as Malvern’s fourth attackman, which speaks volumes about how talented he is considering how deep and experienced that roster is this year. The sample size is still small, but he got significant minutes in top-five showdowns with St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) and Lawrenceville (N.J.), registering an EMO goal against the Friars and out on the field for two of Malvern’s goals in Saturday’s 9-4 loss to the Big Red. Watching him on film, it was quickly evident how many things Lucovich can do at an exceptional level despite his youth, as he’s the type of player who can be moved around and asked to play different roles without ever skipping a beat. Dazzling individual efforts are frequent when he’s got the ball in his stick, but more than anything, he plays within himself and knows how to make the right play, which is among the reasons why he’s gotten PT and is a part of the Friars’ extra-man unit this spring.
