In Hill’s win over Perkiomen, Gillette recorded two goals to go along with one assist. However, those noteworthy stats were not an accurate measure of the enormous impact he had on this game. Several times in this contest, Gillette (Boston Univ.) did a tremendous job of working back from his attack position towards midfield to assist on Hill’s clear. On those plays, Gillette showed incredible agility and soft hands as he frequently hauled in difficult passes that were off the mark. Once he had secured possession, Gillette proved he could run through significant contact until he could find space or get his hands free for a pass to an open teammate. Gillette also showed grit and hustle on Hill’s rides which produced a handful of turnovers.    

Gillette got his 2026 season started with an attention-grabbing four-goal effort in this win. The most impressive goal of the day by the BU commit came when he cut through the middle of the SPS defense, caught a timely pass from Sullivan Keith Sullivan Keith 6'2" | M/A | Left Hand The Hill School | 2027 PA , and then quickly ripped a lefty sidearm into the net. Gillette also impressed with his quick burst and shooting skills on a 4^th quarter goal where he initiated from X and then pumped a right-handed shot into the net just as he crossed GLE. Gillette’s high lacrosse IQ was on display all afternoon, too.    

Leo Gillette Leo Gillette 6'1" | 175 lbs | A/M | Left Hand The Hill School | 2027 PA produced 40 goals and 10 assists for the Blues in 2025. Leo has been gaining valuable experience on Varsity since his freshman year at the Hill School. He is a first-class finisher with a lot more to his game than just catching and shooting. Gillette’s size stands out on the left wing and his willingness to use both hands helps him as a more dynamic playmaker in different areas on the field. He is a fluid shooter on the run, up the hash from behind the goal line. Leo packs a punch with his shot speed and can also penetrate the defense by getting underneath with a nice inside roll move. He is fearless in transition and is crafty with various backhand or behind-the-back shots. Gillette: “The Best a Man Can Get” is more than just a masculine slogan. He is particularly good at setting razor picks on or around the crease tangent. Verbally committed to Boston University.

Last week Gillette committed to Boston University. The BU coaching staff must have been ecstatic with that decision as Gillette is an athletic lefty with a creative offensive mind. In 2025 Gillette scored 40 goals for Hill while operating at attack and midfield. Gillette does a tremendous job of patiently manipulating the defense with his eyes, re-dodges, and fakes until he finds a high percentage scoring opportunity for himself or a teammate. His quick burst and ability to play with either hand enables Gillette to blow past his defender going left or right. Once Gillette has found open space, he can rip powerful overhands as well as sidearms on the run. Or he can charge all the way to the net for a creative finish in close. Gillette’s ability to protect possession with his body and elusive stick moves in impressive. Gillette’s speed and change of direction moves enable him to attack the cage from up top, the wing and X. Gillette is an accurate step-down shooter with deep range too.     

Gillette is an athletic and shifty attack with a creative offensive mind. He does a tremendous job of patiently manipulating the defense with his eyes, probing moves and fakes until a quality scoring opportunity for himself or a teammate presents itself. Gillette is a natural lefty, but he is equally effective at operating with the stick in his right hand. His ability to blow past the initial defender going left or right and then work back to his dominant hand for a shot is impressive. With his quick burst and sturdy frame, Gillette can attack the cage from anywhere in the offensive end. His effective use of re-dodges to create space and read the defensive slides is remarkable. Gillette can operate from up top too. From there he can unleash powerful step downs or get downhill in a hurry and then rip on the move.

After dazzling all fall (and earning a write-up at Alliance in November), Gillette continued to make his presence felt as a left-handed finisher for a BBL team that made it to the ’27 championship game. He was often the byproduct of superb ball movement and consistently found ways to rack up points in big games with his heady off-ball play and sensational handle close to the goal. An unwavering competitor, Gillette also made an impact on the ride, when the ball was on the ground and in unsettled situations, scoring right off the face-off on Sunday afternoon.

A highly skilled and savvy lefty goal-scorer, Gillette tallied a hat trick in a 9-6 win over Sweetlax and looked excellent in the process. He did a terrific job of finding seams in the defenses and sneaking his way to space, and when his teammates found him, Gillette demonstrated soft hands and slick scoring ability inside as the beneficiary of superb ball movement and team offense. At his best within 10 yards of the cage, he’s a capable dodger who consistently put forth great takes, often getting back to the middle of the field or up the hash. Watching his spring and summer highlights back after the event, I was incredibly impressed with his two-handedness and the plethora of ways that he’s able to score. Gillette played a lot running out of the box for Hill as a freshman and finished at a high clip, but there’s no doubt that his role will increase dramatically in Year 2.
