Johnson is an athletic (also plays hockey), fast and a high IQ LSM / close defender. When you combine those assets with his active stick and refined footwork, you get one of the most intriguing 2028 defensive prospects in the state. Johnson can impact every aspect of a game. His speed and ground ball skills make Johnson a force between the restraining lines as well as on the face off wing. In settled action, Johnson can harass midfielders or attackmen for long stretches and then causes a turnover with a well-timed lift or poke. He can also generate turnovers with his physical slides or by disrupting passing lanes with his stick. Once Johnson has secured possession, he can get out in transition quickly. As he pushes into the offensive end, Johnson is a serious threat to rip the ball into the back of the net.
