If there’s a way to quietly put together a four-goal, three-assist outing, that’s exactly what Sturtevant did on Tuesday afternoon. A volume shooter who doesn’t need the ball much in order to have success, Sturtevant is someone who defenses have to account for at all times due to his big right-handed shot. He got on the board first with a beautiful stickside low shot from 10 yards out, then found the net again in the second quarter when his defender lost track of him before Sturtevant unleashed an offside high offering. To complete the hat trick, he came off a pick with his left hand, switched back to his right, and ripped one from the left hash with his feet moving and found the far side corner. In the third quarter, he found

on EMO, then netted another 45 seconds later to put Lawrenceville up 14-3. Although limited athletically, he’s upped his game each year while part of the Big Red’s program and looks poised to join a promising young core in Ann Arbor.

Affectionately known as ‘Marv’ to his teammates for his resemblance to the character from Home Alone, the Northern Virginia native was back at it after a phenomenal junior season in which he went off for 44 goals and 36 assists and led the Big Red in points. Continuing to play attack, Sturtevant shot the heck out of the ball from the right-handed wing — when he gets his hands free, it ends up in the back of the net more often than not. He has a tremendous knack for getting his in any scenario and thrives in the two-man game. He’s dynamic with his release points, keeping netminders on their toes. Sturtevant may not blow by anybody, however, he’s plenty capable as a dodger and frequently gets underneath of defenses. He posted two or more goals in several games, including in a tight semifinal battle with Malvern Prep. Cracking the Top 50 last year, Sturtevant is sure to climb in the next edition of the 2026 rankings.

The Virginia native finished with three goals and three assists and showed exactly why he was my preseason X-Factor for the Big Red. His first goal was a step down from top center, destroying the top right corner with time and room. On his second, he beat his defender from the wing and got underneath and upfield for a good angled shot, then his third came on the doorstep. He’s able to create for others as well, hitting Rawson on a good cut inside and then connecting with Peck twice in the second half, showing his versatility as a passer and shooter.

can rip it up showcasing range from the outside with his feet set. Jake is a stretch shooter from up top & can dodge the alleys putting a lot of pressure on the defense. Sturtevant uses Fundamental stick-work to fire shots into the goal with either hand. Sturtevant is a midfield dodger but shows proficiency in any spot within the attack triangle on fast breaks. Jake is poised to catch & finish in transition or off the ball. He curls hard down low always increasing his angle. Jake uses his big frame & athleticism to work good offense from up top or down low. Versatility is a must when earning time for one of the most competitive programs in the country. A consensus 4-star prospect. Verbally committed to Michigan.

has also proven to be a difference maker. The Michigan commit is able to beat defenders with speed down the alley and then can deceive the goalie by changing planes on his shot with high velocity and accuracy. Ranked 48th in his class, he possesses the strength and stick skills to fight off checks by the defense, make a few fakes, and finish with quick hands in tight. When taking a step down he has a quick release and can light it rip with either hand interchangeably, while mixing up his shots and locations, not needing much space to operate. Playing summers with Next Level, Sturtevant is also used at times to play attack and can make an impact down there as well.

Relative to his fellow newcomers, Sturtevant is somewhat of an outlier with his two-handedness and is the type of player who could become a highly capable complementary piece for the Big Red. The burly 6’1, 190-pound Springfield (Va.) native reclassed after beginning his career at St. Andrew’s Episcopal (Va.), playing club ball with Next Level yet still flying under the radar as a ’25 prospect. Likely to see shortstick matchups, Sturtevant takes what the defense gives him and plays hard, shooting a heavy and accurate ball with either hand. Sturtevant was superb in a November playday against Taft and Loyola, scoring multiple goals in each scrimmage and producing both in transition and 6v6.
