is a consensus 4-star prospect who causes chaos all over the field. Wyatt is known for getting first-time ground balls through traffic. He is excellent at legging it in the clear & dodging riding attackers. Stamnes uses his physicality to his advantage off of the face-off wing garnering his team extra possessions. When pushing transition Stamnes can give & go pressing early offensive production. Stamnes gets over picks quickly up top & rides the dodger’s hips out of angle. Defending against a settled offense (6v6), Stamnes moves his feet well in coverage & has a vicious slap check. Verbally committed to Michigan.

Highly athletic and mean, Stamnes makes his presence felt all over the field. On one of the first plays I saw of the day, he caught his man slipping and got him with a trail check, collecting the ball, going upfield, and scoring a goal. He was a menace all day long and provided physical 1-on-1 play for his squad, never hesitating to lay the body and continually making life difficult for the opposition.

This spring, it’ll be difficult for underclassmen to see significant playing time on the Big Red defense, a unit that lost graduated five-star cover man Quintan Kilrain (Hopkins) but brought back everybody else. Even so, Stamnes is a name worth keeping an eye on. A member of the varsity roster at Darien (Conn.) as a freshman, the lefty is physically and athletically gifted to the point that he looks more like a senior than a sophomore. Stamnes has an awesome motor and hunts down opposing ball-carriers, throwing the type of flashy takeaway checks that usually end up on Instagram and highlight reels. He’s got excellent hands and is a threat to score from his spot at LSM, but also has good enough feet to excel covering down low when called upon, pushing dodgers off their line and making life difficult.
