Expert Analysis

After moving from midfield to attack last year due to injury, Rossettie broke through as a junior for the Big Red, leading Lawrenceville with 47 goals while shooting 40 percent. An explosive initiator, he’s an exceptionally talented wing shooter who has worked hard to extend his range. He’s slippery with the ball in his stick and can both win his matchup and beat the slide to the goal. He’s also shown dynamic playmaking ability, creating opportunities for others out of his dodges. While his game fits JHU’s style well, it may take a year for Rossettie to fully find his footing as he continues to develop consistency and improve his processing speed.

Rossettie made his presence felt playing X attackman and stayed aggressive with his dodges and moving off-ball. Matched up against

most of the night, he showed patience with the ball and ripped off a lot of shots. The Johns Hopkins commit finished with a pair of goals and an assist and used his agility and footwork to evade pressure. On his second goal, he drew a double and split the defenders with a swim dodge to get a high percentage look at the cage that he was able to finish, showing off his crafty style of play and elusiveness to ignite the offense. Rossettie plays fast and smart with strong dodges and keeps his head up at X for open cutters or a skip pass for a step down. On the break, he finds the soft spots in the defense and has great accuracy with time and room.

is a sniper with the stick! As a freshman out West (2023) he was Santa Fe’s points leader with 48 goals & 28 assists equalling 76 points total. Rossettie earned First Team All-League again as a sophomore in addition to All-CIF logging 56 goals & 44 assists for 100 points in 2024. Colby accumulated 176 points in California before bringing his talents East to Lawrenceville. Rossettie is super athletic & has a talented stick. Colby has a flashy play style with sky-whammy pump fakes & the ability to hammer home behind the back goals. Rossettie plays fast but remains under control, going through his progressions as he attacks the goal. Colby has a laser-like shot from the right wing & will also be able to beat defenders from X in either direction. Look for Rossettie to elevate his game even more with the Big Red in 2025 & 2026.

An incoming Lawrenceville transfer via Santa Fe Christian (Calif.), Rossettie put up a 100-point season for the Eagles before deciding to join the Big Red this fall. He’s more of a goal-scorer than a passer, but I was highly impressed with his vision and feeding ability, as he had some superb looks throughout the week. He’s got awesome hands and is a great shooter from the right-handed wing, and also did a nice job getting to his spots as a dodger.
