Sean Currie
About Sean
Expert Analysis
Niko Amato | Prep Lacrosse Scout
A literal force of nature on the turf, Sean Currie combines 6’7” length, 235 pounds of pure athleticism, and the instincts of a seasoned defender. Whether holding the low base or stepping up to shooters, Currie controls space like a chess master, pushing opponents outside danger zones while staying mobile enough to cover the entire field. His stick checks land with the precision and authority of a boxer cornering an opponent — chop, chop, chop — forcing turnovers and rushed decisions before coaches can blink.
Sean’s spring 2025 campaign with Lawrenceville was a showcase of sheer dominance. Facing one of the hardest-riding attacks in the Mid-Atlantic vs Malvern Prep (PA) down one with under three minutes remaining, he cleared the ball like a giraffe breaking free from the lions — lightning quick, impossibly long, giving the Big Red a chance to tie and eventually win. From settled defense in the 6-on-6 to man-down units, or transition situations, Currie reads plays, closes gaps, and disrupts timing in ways few defenders can. His combination of size, speed, and elite athleticism is virtually unmatched.
What separates Sean is the way he blends brute strength with precise execution. He excels in one-on-one matchups, plays on a rope with teammates in rotations, and delivers high-pressure stick work with both consistency and style. His presence forces offenses to adjust constantly, and his ability to swing a game with a single play is unparalleled.
Verbally committed to the University of Virginia for both football and lacrosse, Sean Currie projects as a game-changing, dual-sport athlete at the next level. With size, speed, and instincts few can match, he’s a towering presence built to anchor the Wahoos’ defense while providing a physical and strategic advantage on every possession.

The trifecta of Currie’s size (6’7”; 230 lbs.), incredible athleticism (also a DI football recruit) and stick skills makes him a unicorn on the lacrosse field. Obviously, Currie can create turnovers by physically bullying offensive players. Plus, with his enormous wingspan Curie easily disrupts passing lanes with his stick. His knack for snagging ill-advised passes is incredible. For his size, Currie moves well. Thus, he can track ball carriers on the perimeter or behind the net until they make a mistake. Once that happens, Currie will deliver a powerful stick check that jars the ball lose. As a team defender, Currie executes timely slides and double teams with a physical edge. Currie’s long strides and ability to run through opposing players makes him a plus in the clearing game. This past summer Currie was the defensive MVP at the Main Stage showcase.

Sean Currie has made a strong impact at almost every major event this summer. That success continued at Main Stage, where he received Defensive MVP honors and an All-Star selection. At an impressive height of 6-foot-7, Currie creates a mismatch. He is too tall and intimidating for most attackmen to challenge confidently. He played with a controlled intensity throughout the event, gaining takeaways and converting defense into offense. One standout moment saw him hit the far high corner with a low-to-high shot. If Currie decides to pursue lacrosse at the next level, many college coaches will likely pay attention.

An absolute behemoth at 6’7 and 230 pounds, it’s no surprise that he’s a Power Four football prospect as a tight end, holding early offers from Florida State, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin. He’s a natural space-eater down low, and did a really nice job using his length to knock down and intercept passes. However, I was just impressed with how involved Currie was in the clearing game. He threw some beautiful over passes, and was constantly taking the ball over the midline. I’ll be curious to see if he chooses a two-sport path at the next level or just plays football, given his profile.

Sean Currie, a towering 6’7, 230-pound defender from Lawrenceville, is one of the most physically imposing poles in the 2027 class. With the build of an SEC Tight End or Defensive End, Currie combines size with agility and speed, showcasing strong lateral movement and excellent fundamental defense. Equally comfortable at close defense or Long stick Midfield, he can lock down quick attackmen at X or athletic midfielders from up top. His stick skills and lacrosse IQ allow him to make smart reads and stay patient in the clear, but he is also able to clear the ball himself and start a fast break. Currie’s blend of size, versatility, and poise makes him a defensive force and a top defensive prospect in the class of 2027.
