Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Atkins was outstanding between the pipes in this contest. The Georgetown signee limited SJC to two goals in the 1st half and put a doughnut on the scoreboard during the 3rd quarter. He stoned SJC on several perimeter rips destined for the top of the cage. Atkins also flashed jaw-dropping agility on a number of his drops that stopped low shots by SJC. On a couple of plays, Atkins scrambled out of his crease to secure possession of 50/50 balls. Atkins triggered a handful of transition opportunities for Hill with his accurate clearing passes. The Hoyas’ coaching staff will love the energy Atkins brings to the defensive unit.

Named Goalie MVP at the event, Atkins further reinforced my belief that he’s destined to be Georgetown’s next starter once All-American junior Anderson Moore graduates. While his size isn’t overly imposing, he does an outstanding job taking up space and playing his angles to leave shooters little room to operate. He reads shots exceptionally well, especially low offerings, and makes difficult saves look routine. Even when he allowed a few he wanted back, Atkins quickly regrouped and came up with key stops. I was equally impressed with his poise and activity outside the crease, as he brings an incredibly well-rounded game to the table.

This Georgetown commit owns considerable size, impressive agility, and quick hands. That trifecta was on full display last weekend down in Maryland as Atkins made numerous Instagram worthy saves. His ability to track shooters was next level and helped Atkins cover the top portion of the cage with ease. When shooters finally decided to fire low, he quickly dropped and made a clean stick save or used his body to stop the ball. On the rare occasion where a loose ball occurred, Atkins was quick to pounce on it and secure possession. Atkins delivered smartly placed and timely clearing passes too. The staff at Georgetown will love the way Atkins kept Team Philly 2026’s defense organized with his frequent communication.
