You can count on one hand the number of midfielders who get from one restraining line to the other as quickly as McGinty. Slotted into an SSDM role for the Bruins this spring, he’s the kind of athlete who can tilt the field. His speed is his most elite trait, but his competitive edge is just as defining. He fully embraces his role, harassing opposing dodgers’ hands and flipping his hips to stay in step, consistently disrupting scoring opportunities. McGinty is relentless off the ground, routinely winning contested balls and sparking fast breaks. In transition, his athleticism and decision-making have stood out for a ‘Wick team that operates like a well-oiled machine when going from defense to offense. On the club circuit, he’s everywhere, making game-changing plays in settled offense, scooping up tough groundballs, and giving opposing midfielders fits at the top of the box. With the ball in his stick, he hits another gear, making everyone around him look like they’re standing still. Simply put, McGinty is a pleasure to watch and bound to be coveted by many recruiters come summer.

James McGinty poses a constant offensive threat, especially when dodging downhill with speed and power.  He plays with a gritty, hard-nosed edge, attacking defenders with confidence and the ability to score from any spot on the field. Whether shooting lefty or righty, time and room, or on the run, McGinty consistently finds ways to put the ball in the back of the net and shows smooth finesse when the situation calls for it. His shooting range and versatility make him one of the most dangerous midfield scorers in his class. Just as important, McGinty is a relentless competitor, fearless, physical, and fully committed to doing whatever it takes to help his team. He brings an energy and toughness that elevates everyone around him. Look for McGinty to pop off the page the most in between the lines, showing off elite speed and change of direction, allowing him to be an instant early offense creator. He is certainly one of the premier midfielders in the class.

McGinty already looks like one of the premier midfielders in the 2028 class. He’s a fierce competitor—tough, physical, and a nightmare matchup for opposing defenders. Known for his powerful downhill dodging, McGinty can hammer shots on the run with either hand and does so with confidence and pace.

At The Preview, he finished with two goals and an assist against BBL, but his impact went far beyond the stat sheet. He consistently created transition with his one-man clearing and groundball ability, using his combination of speed, strength, and body control to manipulate and run past defenders. With his versatility, athleticism, and edge, McGinty projects as a true two-way midfielder who can thrive in multiple roles at the next level.
