Expert Analysis
Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Anderson’s family has a strong lineage at Deerfield Academy, a major reason the Greenwich (Conn.) native transferred to the Western Massachusetts boarding school, where he’s a boon for the Big Green heading into the spring. With a sturdy, D1–ready frame and outstanding versatility, he’s expected to grow into a significant role following the program’s losses to graduation on that side of the ball. In all likelihood, Anderson will emerge as the No. 1 cover man down low in one of the nation’s best high school leagues, drawing elite matchups after taking runs at LSM for ‘Wick as a sophomore. He checks a ton of boxes, and his stick skills—one of his greatest attributes—should allow him to make his presence felt in transition. There’s little doubt that Anderson’s best lacrosse is ahead of him.

A widely known name in the Class of 2027 for quite some time, Anderson is set to transfer to Deerfield (Mass.) after seeing significant minutes at LSM for Brunswick (Conn.) this spring. Slotting in down low at Showtime, he plays both spots as well as anyone in the class, so I’ll be curious to see where he plays at the next level. Anderson is a tenacious competitor who never leaves anything to be desired in terms of efforts, which he uses to constantly impact a game. He’s an active checker when playing up top, but is a bit more disciplined with his stick when he’s defending around the cage, where he shows a sturdy base around GLE. Possessing excellent stick work, he loves to push transition whenever the opportunity presents itself and is never shy when it comes to shooting.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but there’s another promising underclassman at Brunswick bound to attract a lot of high Division I looks when 9/1 rolls around. Demonstrating a multi-faceted defensive skill set, Anderson was all over the field last Sunday and made a significant impact in transition, off the wings, at the top of the box, and near GLE. He’s smart and precise with his checks and rarely overextends himself, and he’s got really good feet. I was even more impressed with his stick work and instincts with the ball in his stick, as he seemed super confident once he crossed the midline. So much can be said about his consistency – I’m not sure I saw him get beat all day.
