Pennsylvania 2028s Continue To Fly Off The Board

Over the last 72 hours, two of the top-ranked prospects in the state of Pennsylvania gave their verbal commitments to Penn State.   Midfield phenom [player_tooltip player_id='129788' first='Chase' last='Aquino'] (No. 15 ranked nationally) and dominating pole [player_tooltip player_id='121345' first='Max' last='Delvescovo'] (No. 18 ranked nationally) both chose the Nittany Lions from among a host of suitors. For Penn State head coach Jeff Tambroni and his staff, landing Aquino and Delvescovo adds tremendous impact pieces to their 2028 recruiting class.   In addition to Aquino and Delvescovo, several other highly regarded Pennsylvania 2028s came off the board over the last few days. Below are profiles for five of those talented prospects who recently committed to DI programs:    Adams is an agile netminder with imposing size, fast hands, and an active stick. That list of assets makes Adams one of the top goalies in Pennsylvania. That commitment to Lehigh was a major win for the Mountain Hawks coaching staff. During his extraordinary sophomore campaign, Adams posted 13 wins, 162 saves, and a save percentage of 56.4%. As a result of those incredible stats, Adams received 1st Team All-ChesMont League honors. Adams excels at tracking shooters and then making clean saves. Still, the Lehigh coaching staff is going to be super impressed with how Adams is willing to use any part of his body to make the difficult saves. This junior's combination of athleticism and sneaky speed allows him to scramble out of the crease to pounce on loose balls as well as win chases.     Over the weekend, Busza announced his verbal commitment to Hofstra. This athletic and versatile offensive prospect is a major reason for the resurgence of Ridley lacrosse over the last two seasons. Busza is an extremely shifty ball carrier who can initiate from anywhere on the field. His ability to explode past his defender and then elude slides wreaks havoc on opposing defenses. Once he finds open space, Busza can ping corners or fire bouncers into the net while on the run. Busza is especially dangerous when he operates at X. From behind the cage, Busza's ability to string together multiple cutback moves allows him to separate from the initial defender and then streak around the net for a scoring chance in close. Busza also does a fantastic job of dodging from X, drawing the slide and then feeding the open teammate. Busza's non-stop motor and aggressive stick make him a ground ball machine.     This past Sunday, Rutgers landed a hidden gem when Ingersoll gave the Scarlet Knights his verbal commitment. Ingersoll is a highly skilled faceoff specialist who uses his quick reactions and textbook mechanics to execute clean pick-n-pops. Once the ball is in his mesh, Ingersoll's speed enables him to dash into the offensive zone to create a scoring chance. His long wingspan and solid frame help Ingersoll protect his stick during these charges to the net. Ingersoll owns a high IQ and has demonstrated that he values possession. So, he will smartly drop the ball off to a teammate rather than force an ill-advised transition chance. Ingersoll is also a master at winning the clamp, pivoting, and then snapping the ball to one of his wings. This junior FOGO possesses the physicality and athleticism needed to drop to the ground and grind out a win, too.     On Monday, Mayfield announced that he had committed to Richmond. In my opinion, the Spiders' coaching staff got an absolute stud in this athletic midfielder with size, speed, and highly polished stick skills. During his extraordinary sophomore season, Mayfield posted 57 goals to go along with 34 assists and was a 1st Team All-WPIAL selection. In transition, Mayfield can blow past, run over, or shake defenders until he gets over the restraining line. Mayfield's elusive stick maneuvers then allow him to carry the ball to the cage for a scoring chance in close. In settled action, Mayfield excels at dodging down the alley and then using his elite stick skills to crank a shot into the net or distribute to a teammate while on the run. His ability to dodge going to his left or right and then run through contact makes Mayfield impossible to defend 1v1. The Richmond staff will also be impressed with Mayfield's ability to crank step-downs into the net. Mayfield's physicality and smooth lateral movements allow him to take shifts as a SSDM, too.     Tierney is a long, fleet-footed, and versatile pole who recently committed to Saint Joe's. At both LSM and close defense, Tierney has demonstrated an incredible ability to stay glued to ball carriers for long stretches. The trifecta of Tierney's long wingspan, active stick, and agility enables him to turn a ball carrier multiple times. When the opportunity presents itself, Tierney will deliver a stick check, poke, lift, or can opener that causes a turnover. At 6-foot-3, Tierney also has been known to execute powerful overheads that put the ball on the turf. Tierney's scoop-and-go skills will be a big hit on Hawk Hill. Plus, Tierney owns the speed, shiftiness, and polished stick skills to carry the ball deep into the offensive end and then crank a shot or distribute to a teammate. Tierney owns a high IQ and excellent anticipation skills, so his slides and double teams are always on time. Tierney's active stick and long reach help him disrupt passing lanes.
