Expert Analysis
Michael Campanile | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Experience against elite competition has clearly shaped Oh into a poised and high-upside goalie. As the starting netminder for Taft this past season—an impressive feat for a sophomore—he came into the 2027 Best in Class event battle-tested, and it showed in his play throughout the weekend.
Three standout traits separated Oh from the pack. First, his hands were lightning quick. He routinely snatched away shots with heavy velocity, reacting cleanly and confidently to both inside finishes and mid-range rips. That hand speed, paired with solid positioning, made him extremely tough to beat. Second, his clearing ability stood out. Oh consistently delivered sharp, accurate outlet passes with pace, turning saves into transition opportunities with ease. His vision and decision-making in the clearing game helped jumpstart his team’s offense from the backend. Finally, Oh displayed a high level of sophistication in how he baited shooters. Whether he showed space high or low, he controlled the narrative in tight, often luring attackmen into taking the shot he wanted—then taking it away. With strong technical skills, high-level experience, and a sharp mental game, Oh projects as one of the more polished and promising goalies in the 2027 class.

is the total package of an elite goalie, combining mental toughness with physical tools. With a short memory and perfect frame in the cage, he remains steady and composed, rarely making a move until the shot is released. His fearless style often results in him soaking shots with his body rather than relying solely on his stick. As he gains experience facing high-level talent, the team is excited to see his continued development this season.

Having produced the top-ranked goalie in the class twice in three years (Thomas Ricciardelli ’22 and Ben Friedman ’24), Max Rosner’s program will have a new face in goal this spring, with Oh contending with Richmond-bound postgrad John Fisher. It’s still early, but expectations for Oh are sky-high, as he looks primed to ultimately become one of the highest-ranked netminders in a loaded ’27 class. Patiently waiting, reading, and reacting, he’s tall, fundamentally sound, and has an explosive top hand. Though he’s an imposing figure with a wide base, he’s lights out on low shots and is outstanding when it comes to controlling rebounds. Additionally, he’s a tremendous asset in the clearing game, starting fast break opportunities with poise. There’s a lot to like across the board.

Viewed as one of the better prospects in a deep and talented ’27 goalie class, Oh recently transferred into Taft after beginning his career at NorCal mainstay Sacred Heart Prep. Having watched him at the Maverik Showtime All-Star Game and then again last Sunday, it’s clear that he’s been coached incredibly well, as he’s very disciplined and patient. There’s no guessing and no wasted movements – everything’s in sync from his feet up to his hands and eyes. Backstopping an impressive ADVNC squad, Oh stonewalled kids inside, controlled rebounds and made a few beautiful saves on shots at his ankles.
