Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
These days the label “two-way midfielder” is used frequently in prospect scouting reports. But at the Philly Fall HS Challenge, Dumais redefined that lacrosse term as he made extraordinary contributions on both ends of the field for Hill School. On defense, Dumais worked as a menacing SSDM who created a slew of turnovers. Dumais used crafty sticks checks and lifts as well as forceful crowbars and body checks to cause those turnovers. Once the ball hit the turf, his active stick and nose for the ball enabled Dumais to pounce on the GBs. His speed and elusive moves then carried Dumais into the offensive end for a transition scoring opportunity. Dumais displayed serious sake on a few coast-to-coast runs where he found the back of the net. In 6v6 action, Dumais initiated from everywhere on the field and then scored or distributed while on the move. He also caught a couple of defenders by surprise with his ability to dip underneath for a charge at the net. His quick burst and non-stop motor enabled Dumais to be a highly impactful presence on the face off wing too. Dumais is committed to RPI (D3). The Engineers landed a talented and high IQ prospect who I predict is headed for a monster senior season.
