About Luke
Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Weisel is a long and athletic midfielder with a howitzer for a shot. Weisel can crank shots into the net on the run and via step downs. His ability to fire with both hands is especially impressive. Weisel has also demonstrated that he can dodge from up top or the wing, run through stick chicks and then finish in close with a powerful overhand or well-placed bouncer. If the opposing defense slides early to Weisel, his field vision and polished stick skills enable him to deliver a timely dime to the open teammate. Weisel is a patient offensive midfielder who will not hesitate to re-dodge or carry the ball behind the net until a high percentage scoring opportunity opens up for him or a teammate. This past summer Weisel was extremely impressive at marquee event such as the NLF Invite and New Balance All-American games. We are predicting a monster 2026 high school season is loading for Weisel.

Luke Weisel teed off against the West Team at the New Balance All-America event, putting up a goal, two assists, and countless ground balls and hustle plays between the lines. It felt like he was on every wing for Philadelphia’s 12-5 win, constantly impacting the game in both directions. Weisel is the definition of a gamer—he makes plays no matter his role. Offensively, he can initiate and draw slides, and he’s fully capable of putting up multiple points. Defensively, he has quick feet, plays with urgency, and picks the ball off the turf to spark transition. Whether it’s offense, defense, or wing play, Weisel does whatever it takes to tilt the field in his team’s favor.

Weisel is an athletic and speedy mid who dropped the hammer on the run and via step downs. His shifty fakes and quick first step allowed Weisel to find space for shots in transition as well as in 6 on 6 action. Weisel owns a creative offensive mind, and he frequently caught defenders by surprise with his creative shots or passes. From up top, Weisel got downhill in a hurry, ran through checks, and then fired on net with precision. At the All-America event, Weisel executed a variety of elusive moves that left the initial defender in his dust. Additionally, last weekend Weisel demonstrated that he could score and distribute with his left or right hand.
