This Ohio State commit is the epitome of an elite, two-way defender. In the win over Haverford McCottry displayed incredible speed and athleticism as well as a wicked long-range shot. On two separate occasions in this game, McCottry raced up field to join the fast break, caught a pass on the run, then set his feet and fired a missile into the net. Both of those impressive scoring efforts were unleashed from 15-18 yards out. On defense, this lefty provided tenacious on-ball pressure and frequently secured GBs in traffic. Plus, McCottry executed a handful of effective double teams.

Buy McCottry’s stock now before it keeps climbing. Prioritized by a handful of Big 10 and ACC programs in early September, McCottry’s best lacrosse is ahead of him after a breakthrough summer. A tough, rangy 6’3 left-hander who makes his presence felt every time he’s out there, McCottry is part of a trio of promising junior defensemen at Loyola, a program known for sending poles to top Division I programs. After showing flashes as a sophomore on varsity, he excelled with FCA this summer and had an impressive showing at NHSLS. He’s a playmaker on the back end who has terrific hands and fundamentally sound approaches, two qualities that allow him to be disruptive.
