Standouts From 2026 Committed Combine

Below is a review of five prospects who played outstanding lacrosse at the Committed Combine which was held this week in Severn, Maryland.    Canton is a three-year varsity starter, as well as one of the most decorated net minders in New Jersey. Therefore, it should not be a surprise that this Loyola commit was a brick wall in net at the Committed Combine. Canton's agility really stood out at this event. He frequently slid post-to-post or executed swift drops to make saves. That agility combined with his fast hands and ability to track shooters made Canton extremely difficult to score on from long range. Canton denied a slew of scoring chances around the crease, too. The Loyola coaching staff will love the vocal leadership and high IQ that Canton displayed at the Committed Combine. One last item: Canton scored an incredible goal on a 75-yard shot that managed to find the back of the net.     Cruz's electric offensive performances earned him MVP honors for his team at the Committed Combine. This Towson signee displayed a well-rounded skill set, a quick burst, and filthy stick skills. His ability to shoot and distribute on the run was especially impressive. Cruz initiated from everywhere on the offensive end, blew past his defender, and then dashed into space for clean looks. His quick release and creative shot placement made Cruz's rips nearly impossible to stop. Cruz also impressed with his ability to absorb double teams and then hit the open teammate with a timely pass.     I must tip my cap to the Le Moyne coaching staff for landing this two-way gem. The first item that popped about Felde was his ability to dominate the middle third of the field. Felde repeatedly vacuumed up ground balls or received outlet passes and then pushed his team's transition game. Once he got below the restraining line, Felde demonstrated remarkable stick skills, scoring a couple of goals and delivering precise passes. On defense, Felde caused turnovers with stick checks, lifts, and pokes as well as by taking the body. Additionally, Felde did a fantastic job of using his physicality to shut down dodges by opposing ball carriers. Felde's trifecta of speed, athleticism, and refined stick skills will serve him well in college.     At the Committed Combine, McCottry proved to be an athletic pole who owns imposing size, textbook technique, and an extremely active stick. This Ohio State commit repeatedly got into ball carriers early in their dodges and used his size advantage to move his opponents off their intended path. McCottry's ability to keep a ball carrier in front of him and turn that offensive player multiple times was impressive too. His polished footwork and fundamentally sound techniques were major factors in that area. With his long wingspan and lively stick, McCottry was able to deflect or intercept a number of passes, too. As a team defender, McCottry demonstrated a high IQ and excellent field awareness.     Ohio Wesleyan landed an absolute steal when the multi-skilled Ruiz committed to the Battling Bishops program. During the Committed Combine, Ruiz's stick skills, field vision, and creativity produced numerous jaw-dropping dimes. His high IQ and unselfish nature were key to Ruiz's dynamic passing game. When Ruiz wasn't handing out assists, he proved he could initiate dodges from both attack and midfield. His ability to easily cook the initial defender and then charge towards the net placed opposing defenses under constant pressure. Ruiz also impressed with his hustle and tenacity on the ride.
