Expert Analysis
Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
This athletic and agile prospect with polished stick skills is a dynamic two-way pole. Jewell excels at vacuuming up a ground ball or receiving a clearing pass, and then racing into the offensive end. Once Jewell is below the restraining line, he is a legitimate threat to score a transition goal. Jewell’s lengthy wingspan and two-handed stick skills keep the ball out of harm’s way during those fast break opportunities. His ability to weave through an entire opposing team on the way to a high-percentage scoring chance is unique among 2030 longsticks. On defense, Jewell uses his formidable size and smooth lateral footwork to stop ball carriers cold. This freshman will put the ball on the turf via powerful stick checks as well as crafty lifts and pokes. Jewell is an expert at delivering well-timed overheads too. Jewell’s ability to completely shut down the opposing team’s No. 1 option is impressive.
