He finished his sophomore campaign with 165 saves, 11 of which came in their South Jersey Group 1 sectional finals loss to Rumson-Fair Haven, where the Big 4 HHH product stood tall in cage and denied many shots from a slew of great shooters for the opposition. When opponents are in tight, Frey is patient, which helps him track the ball, and he is light on his feet to make highlight-reel plays on the regular with swift movements. In the clearing game, he is methodical with the ball and does not fall into many turnover situations, but when the chance comes to get the ball up and out, he can sling it upfield for transition chances.

The stellar play of Frey has been a major reason Haddonfield has jumped out to a 5-1 start in 2026. Included in those five wins was an upset of New Jersey powerhouse Christian Brothers Academy during which Frey made twelve saves. Frey also recorded fourteen saves against nationally ranked St. Augustine Prep. This 2028 prospect possesses fast hands and remarkable agility. Combine those assets with Frey’s noteworthy size, and you get a brick wall between the pipes. Frey’s ability to track shooters on the perimeter produces a high percentage of clean saves. Once the ball is in his stick, Frey will deliver timely and precise outlets. For a sophomore, Frey is extremely poised and does an impressive job of communicating with his defensive unit.

When you combine that length with the fast hands and quick reflexes Frey displayed this fall, you get a standout goalie who college coaches should put on their recruiting board right now. That trifecta of assets enabled Frey to cover the top of the cage with ease. Frey also showcased impressive agility and flexibility as he repeatedly turned aways low shot attempts too. His incredible ability to track shooters through traffic produced a high percentage of clean saves. Once the ball was in Frey’s stick, he swiftly delivered precise clearing passes. College coaches will love the way Frey constantly communicated with the defenders in front of him.        

Alexander Frey is a standout 2028 goalie with elite instincts, strong fundamentals, and a commanding presence in net. Frey’s technical foundation is impressive for his age. Standing at 6’0″ and 155 pounds, he uses his frame effectively to cover the cage and challenge shooters. His hand speed and reaction time allow him to make difficult saves look routine, particularly in tight situations. Frey’s footwork is crisp, enabling him to reset quickly and maintain balance through lateral movements. He’s also a vocal leader on the field, consistently directing his defense and communicating through transitions.

Beyond his shot-stopping ability, Frey shows maturity in his clearing game. He’s confident under pressure and makes smart outlet passes to jumpstart fast breaks. His experience with a top club program has exposed him to high-level competition, sharpening his decision-making and poise.
