Back in early April, DyReyes poured in five goals and dished out three assists in a win over Cherokee. That headline-grabbing performance was a preview of the breakout sophomore campaign DyReyes was about to assemble. This season, DyReyes posted 25 goals and 29 assists as he helped push Haddonfield to a berth in the NJSIAA state tournament. DyReyes’s length, solid frame, quick first step, and filthy stick skills make him a difficult 1v1 matchup. He is especially effective when operating at X. From behind the net, DyReyes can execute a face dodge or stutter step that cooks the initial defender and then charges around the corner for a finish in close. Or he can turn the corner and then push up the hash before turning and firing a missile into the net. DyReyes can also take a more deliberate approach on his dodges from X and simply wear out a defender with his physicality. Once DyReyes gets to his preferred spots, he will rip a shot into the cage.
