With the Class of 2029 set to play in front of college coaches for the first time this fall, recruiters will get an early look at impact playmakers like Seton Hall Prep's [player_tooltip player_id='178548' first='Matthew' last='Solomon'] and Pingry's [player_tooltip player_id='216581' first='Brady' last='Kopp'], among others. Several Non-Public sophomores will look to make a splash in the coming months, including Delbarton's [player_tooltip player_id='173417' first='Luke' last='Pedicano'] and St. Augustine Prep's [player_tooltip player_id='141663' first='Ryan' last='Lamberson'], a pair of defenders we've already covered as underclassmen.

Each of these prospects will look to make an impact on their team's success this spring while continuing to develop their games and build their recruiting profiles. With several years of high school lacrosse still ahead, the coming months will offer an important opportunity to establish themselves.

The first thing that's highlighted when talking about Kopp is his size, but he's not just a big body on defense; he uses his frame and lower body strength along with quick lateral movements to not get beat. The BBL Black product slides with purpose and pesters his opponents' hands to disrupt the offense and give his teammates time to reset on the back end. Being that most of his matchups are shorter than him, he shows good awareness to get low, move his feet, and avoid high checks that could draw flags. Off a turnover or ground ball pick-up, he can flip the field with good speed and can be a threat with the ball when the defense leaves him alone. As a freshman, Kopp tallied a goal and three assists and will look to earn a starting spot for Pingry, where a couple of defenders have graduated.

Scibilia is a crafty two-way playmaker for the Hermits with a good mix of dodges at his disposal, coupled with a quick first step to create space. He's a tough assignment for defenders due to his ability to be productive with either hand and his quick and powerful shooting motion. He works hard as a facilitator, using his vision and stick skills to find open teammates out of his dodges and plays smart with and without the ball. While he only recorded an assist as a freshman, his production, versatility, and development with South Shore have made him a name to know in this 2029 class. Scibilia can also positively affect the game off-ball, displaying good spacing and finding skip lanes to set up a time-and-room shot or a quick cut. Once he mixes up his shot locations and changes planes on opposing goaltenders, the Hammonton native could be in line to earn a larger role for the Hermits, though he got plenty of time on the defensive end as a freshman.

Szapka's aggressive nature is not only seen but felt for the opposition, with hard checks on the hands and a combative approach on loose balls, utilizing his strong lower body and instincts to get the ball to space and push it upfield. The Warwick (N.Y.) native shows his athleticism when getting dodged on; with a wide stance, he uses his stick length to engage matchups early in their dodge and be disruptive. He displays good timing on his checks, either forcing a loose ball or deterring his opponents from re-dodging with good footwork and pressure at the point of attack. Szapka can play both down D and LSM and doesn't get flustered with the ball when pressure is applied. With Don Bosco Prep reloading the defensive unit after key starters have graduated, Szapka will work to earn a role for the Ironmen.

Chern's shiftiness, coupled with his ability to beat you with either hand, makes him tough to defend out of the dodge and a threat with the ball from anywhere. The 3D Garden State product plays with confidence from X or the top and has the range to make defenses pay if they don't step up. His speed helps him create space and get the defense moving to set up his teammates or use his breakaway speed down the alley for a good look. Another aspect of his game that you love to see is his patience with the ball; with a matchup he likes, he doesn't mind dodging and re-dodging to find success and utilizes stick fakes and deception to stay elusive and find his shots. Chern tallied 4 points as a freshman, but his stick skills and dodging abilities may be able to help him carve out a larger role in this CBA offense that is returning a large number of its offensive contributors from last year.

With his stick skills and knack for picking up loose balls, Franchetti has been a smooth operator for BBL Black and a consistent presence on the defensive end. He possesses an array of takeaway checks in his arsenal and plays light on his feet, helping him move his hips and keep his opponent in front of him. When off-ball, he does a good job of keeping his stick active in passing lanes and displays physicality when sliding. Showing an athletic breakdown and the strength to discourage dodgers at GLE and on the wings, Franchetti is a pest for the opposition and showcases good fundamentals at close D. He may not burn many opponents in transition, but he is sure-handed with the ball and can be a threat when left open on the break and plays a smart brand of lacrosse. It will be interesting to see what kind of role he can earn himself for the Green Wave.

Solomon was a consistent player down the stretch for the Pirates last spring, showing his maturity and athleticism to compete and produce against some of the best prospects in the state. With good speed and playmaking ability at the midfield position, he takes advantage of the short-stick matchups he draws and uses them to ignite the offense and get the defense scrambling. With an elusive style of play, he's able to create space and get his hands free for a high-percentage look at the cage or to dump it off to a teammate. While he only tallied six points as a freshman, five of them came in the state tournament when it mattered most, and with a handful of offensive contributors having graduated, Solomon should be in line for an increased role in this high-powered offense.

With the versatility to play the wing and close D, Stopa can affect the game in a variety of ways. On the wing, he is patient and waits for the ball to pop out to space and then explodes through the pile to start the fast break with long strides and confidence handling the ball. The Wharton (N.J.) native uses his agility to match feet with his opponents and plays a fast and physical style of lacrosse that is exciting to watch. He refrains from throwing unnecessary checks, staying in good position, but can body his matchup when in tight or forcing them down the alley for a tough shot. Off a save, he displays awareness as a reliable outlet for his goalie and doesn't put the ball in many turnover scenarios. With continued offseason development and working against top-tier opponents at showcases like Maverik Showtime, Stopa will want to carry that momentum into the spring and hopefully earn himself significant playing time for Don Bosco Prep.
