Expert Analysis
Eric Bretz | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Chern’s shiftiness, coupled with his ability to beat you with either hand, makes him tough to defend out of the dodge and a threat with the ball from anywhere. The 3D Garden State product plays with confidence from X or the top and has the range to make defenses pay if they don’t step up. His speed helps him create space and get the defense moving to set up his teammates or use his breakaway speed down the alley for a good look. Another aspect of his game that you love to see is his patience with the ball; with a matchup he likes, he doesn’t mind dodging and re-dodging to find success and utilizes stick fakes and deception to stay elusive and find his shots. Chern tallied 4 points as a freshman, but his stick skills and dodging abilities may be able to help him carve out a larger role in this CBA offense that is returning a large number of its offensive contributors from last year.
