Sears has been a two-year starter at Shawnee, but this spring served as his breakout stretch of play. This 2028 pole owns impressive speed, an active stick, and a physical edge to his game. As a sophomore, Sears played both close defense and LSM. From both positions, Sears proved that he is an elite ground ball machine who could vacuum up GBs in the open field as well as in traffic. Once the ball was in his stick, Sears generated transition chances by swiftly legging the rock out himself or via accurate clearing passes. Defensively, Sears excelled at creating turnovers via punishing stick checks and crafty pokes, as well as by taking the body. His smooth lateral footwork and positioning skills enabled Sears to keep ball carriers in front of him for long stretches. Finally, Sears is a high IQ pole who did an impressive job of recognizing and then marking cutters.
