<p>On Thursday, Choate Rosemary (CT) visited suburban Philadelphia for a highly anticipated matchup with Pennsylvania public school juggernaut Radnor.</p>
<!-- /wp:paragraph -->
<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>Radnor held a 2-0 lead after the 1st quarter and appeared to be gaining control of the game. But Choate came to life in the 2nd quarter and found the back of the net four times in that stanza. Two of Choate's goals in that 2nd quarter were scored by Trinity commit [player_tooltip player_id='141990' first='Declan' last='Pettit']. Radnor tallied two goals in the 2nd quarter and thus the score was tied 4-4 at halftime.</p>

<!-- wp:paragraph -->
<p>A back-and-forth 3rd quarter was capped off by three straight goals from Choate as they took a 9-7 advantage into the 4th quarter. Radnor responded with a monster final quarter as they received four goals from [player_tooltip player_id='123287' first='Finn' last='Petrone'] (Lehigh) as well as one goal from [player_tooltip player_id='123288' first='Tommy' last='Goldstein'] (Cornell). Meanwhile, Radnor's defensive unit turned up the pressure, and goalie [player_tooltip player_id='171691' first='Teddy' last='Curry'] held Choate to just one tally in the 4th quarter. Radnor's incredible 4th quarter propelled the Raptors to a 12-10 season-opening win. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Against Radnor, Pettit worked as an athletic and speedy two-way mid. He impressed with his ability to have an impact at both ends of the field. On offense, Pettit struck for two goals. Pettit scored his first goal via a low-to-low lefty shot on the fast break. He also found the back of the net on a beautiful right-handed shot off pick-n-pop action. Defensively, Pettit provided menacing on-ball pressure. He also picked up a handful of GBs and then legged the ball up field for clears / transition opportunities. Pettit is committed to Trinity.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">This highly touted 2026 prospect certainly lived up to his billing yesterday as Privateer posted a hat trick against Radnor. What impressed me the most with Privateer on Thursday was the inside hitch move he executed to set up his second goal. Once his defender was off-balance, Privateer exploded into open space for a sidearm rip. Against Radnor, Privateer also proved that he could absorb significant contact before firing a shot into the net. Privateer is committed to Dartmouth. The Big Green coaching staff will love the quick release and accuracy on his long-range shot. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">On Thursday, Curry proved again that he is one of the top 2028 goalies in the state of Pennsylvania. In the 1st quarter, Choate peppered Curry with a barrage of shots, but the sophomore was an absolute brick wall in net and held Choate scoreless in that opening stanza. Choate eventually broke through, but Curry's remained impressive between the pipes throughout this game. The combination of his fast hands and ability to track long-range shooters produced a host of clean saves up top. Curry also did a tremendous job of throwing his body in front of low shots. His speed and hustle enabled Curry to win a few chases for Radnor, too. Lastly, Curry played with an energy and enthusiasm that was contagious. </p>

<p class="text-gray-700">In 2025, French was a starting attackman for a Radnor team that advanced to the 3A state championship. But the Class of 2025's graduation depleted Radnor's midfield group, so the athletic and gritty French has moved to middie for 2026. In his first game at his new position, French did not miss a beat. He recorded one goal to go along with two assists and quarterbacked the Radnor offense. French did an excellent job of initiating for Radnor and getting the team into their designed plays. On several possessions, French dashed out of the box, received a clearing pass, and then smartly ran the ball through heavy traffic and into the offensive end. His poise and ability to dodge through contact were evident all game.</p>

<p class="text-gray-700">Petrone missed the end of the 2025 season, including the 3A state championship game, with a shoulder injury. Yesterday, the lefty attackman returned to Radnor's lineup in glorious fashion as he poured in six goals and handed out four assists. This Lehigh commit's extremely polished catch-and-shoot skills were on display all afternoon. Petrone's ability to sweep, cut, or drift into open space for clean looks was impressive. His fifth goal of the game was a smooth tally: Petrone caught the ball at the GLE, dipped under his defender, and then got to the front of the cage for a dunk. When Choate's off-ball defenders fell asleep, Petrone used his field vision and stick skills to drop timely dimes on his teammates. </p>
