This '28 class is no different, as several prospects have attracted attention from Division I programs. Here are five NH talents that you need to know more about in this recruiting window.    A five-tool defender who can play any spot in settled sets, Shaw has a diverse and valuable skill set. One of the best things about him is how capable he is of disrupting ball carriers. Long stick, short stick - it doesn't matter; Shaw is a guy who lets you know who and where he is at all times. On-ball, he is technically sound, and off-ball, he slides to destroy. It's not a step too far to call him an enforcer, but enforcers are valuable to teams that need to add toughness to their roster. When Shaw carries the ball, he invites contact, often resulting in players bouncing off of him in increasingly hilarious ways. More than one overzealous riding attackman tasted turf trying to lay a hit on Shaw this past summer.     Erwin has so much potential that no one even knows what his natural position is. When you're able to do as many things as Erwin can with and without the ball, it's tough to nail down his best spot on the field. After watching him last season and this past summer, I think he might be best utilized as a transition midfielder who stays on for early offense. His club team uses him everywhere, but the most telling thing is that he is almost always on the field when the game is on the line. Just his ability to turn a loose ball into a game-winning goal makes him all but indispensable in clutch situations. He's going to get some serious looks here as October approaches.     Weaver is a First Team All-State scorer who can impact a game from multiple positions. Defenses know that they absolutely cannot allow him to break goal-line extended, but he finds a way to do it nearly every time he attempts it. His ability to drop a shoulder, feint to the inside, and get over for a well-disguised shot is exceptional. However, Weaver is more than just a highly successful signature move; he can also play on the perimeter and pick at defenses that don't pressure out with incisive feeds. But failing any interior looks, he has enough rope to make a slow-rotating defense pay.     A Lakes Region product with exceptional toughness and physicality, Maloney knows how to time his checks like a college player already. The best part is that he does so so naturally that it looks almost casual. He can poke the ball free on the perimeter as easily as he snaps a stick out of an attackman's hand with a perfect back check. If you show Maloney any weakness, he will exploit it, especially in a 1v1 scenario. He's a big part of KUA's defense this spring and should be on the radar of teams that are looking for technical defenders who are averse to gambling on big checks.     Another lefty defender with a propensity for necessary violence, Barrett knows how to clean up a crease and clean out a careless attackman. The NHIAA does not always reward big hits, but Barrett has adapted to be more than just a missile sliding longpole. In the club ranks, he's developed into a high-energy pursuer on the low elbow and a dodge-jailer up top. Right-handed dodgers constantly underestimate the force with which Barrett can strike their exposed hand, and it often leads them to take one check and then retreat to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. He is also adept at tying up dodgers who try to get topside with technical holds and exceptional foot speed.
