Another lefty defender with a propensity for necessary violence, Barrett knows how to clean up a crease and clean out a careless attackman. The NHIAA does not always reward big hits, but Barrett has adapted to be more than just a missile sliding longpole. In the club ranks, he’s developed into a high-energy pursuer on the low elbow and a dodge-jailer up top. Right-handed dodgers constantly underestimate the force with which Barrett can strike their exposed hand, and it often leads them to take one check and then retreat to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. He is also adept at tying up dodgers who try to get topside with technical holds and exceptional foot speed.
