2028 South Rankings: More Offensive Weapons to Know

After the first weekend of campus visits for the 2028s, South players are starting to fly off the board. Let's take a look at five offensive weapons from our recent <a href="https://preplacrosse.com/national/player-rankings/2028-lacrosse-lax-south-region-player-rankings/" data-type="link" data-id="https://preplacrosse.com/national/player-rankings/2028-lacrosse-lax-south-region-player-rankings/">South regional rankings.</a>    You can plug Bolander anywhere on offense, and he'll make an impact. Slick feeder, fast-twitch athlete, two-handed finisher—those skills define his game. He starts his dodges with a little shimmy, forcing defenders to play him straight up because he can hit shots sweeping or down both alleys. The deception in his redodges pops—he knows when to bounce out, then re-engage with speed or physicality. Slick as a feeder, he also knows when to look off a defender to free someone inside and when to fire a skip to squeeze it into tight windows. Without the ball, he takes advantage of defenders in help positions with back doors and hard cuts. From outside, he knows how to catch it loaded to finish with a quick stepdown; inside, he finishes with different releases and flair.     Arthur has one of the highest ceilings in the 2028 South region. The recent Air Force commit is a big-time football player, and it shows. He's big, strong, physical, and he eats checks for breakfast. He plays with a wide base, so poles don't affect him much; he leans into defenders and consistently finishes through contact. The speed and agility in his game show up as well—when defenders expect brute force, he'll turn the corner and beat them to spots for shots. He consistently dodges with his head up, and when slides come, he finds teammates. I like his range of finishes, too. He brings heat from different release points—both on the run and with his feet set—and has the IQ to hit his spots with a quick release. Colleges see him more as a midfielder, but he's a dawg on the ride, covering a lot of ground on the chase and delivering heavy one-handed checks when he gets there.     When you can score goals like Rein, college coaches will be interested. With a sophomore stat line of 47 goals and seven assists, it's obvious he fills the role of a finisher. An absolute menace off the ball, he feasts when defenders are in help positions. Whether he's mirroring a dodger or making a hard cut when his defender sags into help, if you give him an inch, he'll make you pay. Soft hands when the ball comes his way, and a lightning-quick release to get it out. His smooth release helps him pick his spots, and he does it well with both hands. I'd like to see him improve his dodging and feeding game, but when you're that good at one thing, it's hard to complain.     Grieve is as dangerous as a feeder as he is a scorer, mostly because he knows when to manipulate a defense and when to take advantage of it. I love the way he dodges poles. Sometimes he draws a check from the start with his passing posture to get an instant step on his defender; other times, he uses that same posture to keep the ball moving or find cutters inside. Grieve forces defenders to play at his pace. His constant variability in speed and dodging styles makes him extremely hard to guard—dodging hard to draw a slide and open a skip, or slowing down to freeze a slide and create space for himself. He's unpredictable. The fact that he finishes on the doorstep constantly speaks not only to his efficiency as a scorer, but to the threat he poses to defenses.     A lefty Canadian? Sign me up. Craiggs shows the extra level you'd expect from a player who developed north of the border. In the spring, he fit in mostly as a finisher with IMG thanks to his silky mitts and quick release—catching everything thrown his way and letting it go in a flash, the kind of timing required for backside pipe one-timers in the box. When he needs to be accurate, his snappy release takes over, allowing him to pick his spots. He showed some dodging in the spring, but it's become more apparent this summer, serving as an initiator for his offenses. Defenses are forced to slide because he can pull out shots right around defenders and has the physicality to get into them, going under or over the top for looks. His feeding game is on a different level: he pulls out lever feeds and skips that not only find teammates, but open them up.
