In the culmination of the high school lacrosse season, Brunswick and Lawrenceville met in the 2024 Prep Nationals championship game. Ranked #1 and #2 in the polls, respectively, the game was effectively the high school national championship game. The two rosters included over 30 DI commits, and a group of some of the highest-regarded underclass lacrosse talent in North America. These two teams met on April 10th, and Brunswick prevailed in overtime. Since then, fans have anxiously anticipated the potential rematch to close the season. Both teams were seeking a national title, Brunswick was also seeking a perfect season, entering the game at a perfect 17-0.

But perfection in sports is, as any sports fan knows, nearly impossible. And on Sunday, Lawrenceville executed a gameplan as flawlessly as anyone could ask, and they controlled the game wire to wire en route to a 14-5 win. The Big Red used their ferocious 10-man ride to cause turnovers, a fluid and constantly moving offense to frustrate the Brunswick defense, and a double pole against the Brunswick midfield to try and control the Bruin dodgers. It all worked well for them and, along with a great day in net from their goalie, delivered a decisive victory and the number one spot in the polls.

The entire Lawrenceville offense is worth highlighting, but players all over the field made an impact. The four biggest standouts:

From a matchup standpoint, he was bumped up to the midfield to guard Brunswick's top weapon, [player_tooltip player_id='14810' first='Hudson' last='Hausmann']. Voultos would hold Hausmann to just one goal on the day, coming in the first quarter. The Lawrenceville ride is a major part of their gameplan, and Voultos is a critical piece of it. He moves up to the middle of the field, seeking out passes that are anything other than perfect so he can pick them off, or looking to jump ball carriers at the midfield line. Voultos' physicality and stickwork were on display for the full 48 minutes, and in the ride, he was so active it made it seem as though Lawrenceville had extra players on the field.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["14832"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"Lawrenceville held Brunswick to five goals, and it wasn't because Brunswick couldn't create good looks at goal. Piacentini just seemed to get to everything. He made three quick saves at the start of the game. The shots all came high, and Brunswick is smart and well-coached enough to start varying shot locations. So they did, and tried Piacentini low, at hip level, all over. And he saved all of those too. He also had two caused turnovers in the ride, picking off long clearing passes, and he won the run out on a desperation full-field shot to get possession back to Lawrenceville. Post-game, Lawrenceville coach Jon Posner called Piacentini the best goalie in the 2024 class. After the performance, it was hard to disagree.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["14558"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Everyone on the Big Red offense was sharp on Sunday, but English was a party starter for them all afternoon. English drew a short stick in the early going, and for most of the first half, looked an awful lot like his brother Sam English. He set up on the high wing, made one quick move, and got to his right hand at full speed in just a few steps. Sweeping across the top right-handed, English always seemed to have options. He could shoot, feed inside, or pass the ball forward to the attack and then pick down to keep the offense rolling. English picked the correct option every time. If he ever ended up with a pole, he would play a big little game with a shorty on the wings, and switch his matchup. English is a player who very clearly has that box background in his game but is more than comfortable on the field. The whole stadium knows he wants to go right, and he always gets his right anyway. It's a testament to his explosiveness as a dodger, from a dead stop to full speed in just a couple of steps.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["28878"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Lawrenceville opted to double-pole the Brunswick midfield. Part of the Bruins' plan was to attack the lone shorty in the midfield and try to create. Lumpris was that midfielder, and he was up to the task all day. Brunswick tried to make him guard out of the invert, from up top, all over the field, and Lumpris never really looked uncomfortable. His footwork was outstanding, staying hip to hip with dodgers and rarely even requiring a slide to help him. Lumpris was another key piece of the Lawrenceville ride. He'll play football at Air Force, and he played in the ride like a safety looking for crossing routes to light up.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":4,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-664b8013e4588"} /-->
