English was the driving force for Lawrenceville’s hot start offensively and a matchup nightmare for BL’s defenders. Although he did not score, he kickstarted the offense by dodging from the top, drawing a slide, and dumping it off. He’s a quick, shifty dodger and can create space to shoot or find a teammate. The Ontario native is a workhorse who dodges hard every time and doesn’t spend much time on the sidelines. He’ll continue to be a big part of the offense, especially if opponents are going to play man-to-man defense against the Big Red.

Sawyer is a speedster that runs by short stick defenders easily getting to the middle for a consistent shot. Sawyer’s passing skills allow him to find the open man in the offense. He plays a point position in the Man-Up where he is trusted to make the correct decisions. As much as English proves to be a cerebral player don’t be fooled by his size, he is a prolific playmaker. A consensus 4-star prospect. Verbally committed to Brown.

Everyone on the Big Red offense was sharp on Sunday, but English was a party starter for them all afternoon. English drew a short stick in the early going, and for most of the first half, looked an awful lot like his brother Sam English. He set up on the high wing, made one quick move, and got to his right hand at full speed in just a few steps. Sweeping across the top right-handed, English always seemed to have options. He could shoot, feed inside, or pass the ball forward to the attack and then pick down to keep the offense rolling. English picked the correct option every time. If he ever ended up with a pole, he would play a big little game with a shorty on the wings, and switch his matchup. English is a player who very clearly has that box background in his game but is more than comfortable on the field. The whole stadium knows he wants to go right, and he always gets his right anyway. It’s a testament to his explosiveness as a dodger, from a dead stop to full speed in just a couple of steps.
