Best of The Bluegrass: Senior Offensive Standouts In 2024
The sun has set on the 2024 high school lacrosse season in the Bluegrass State. That also means the end of the club era in the Commonwealth with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) sanctioning the sport starting next spring.
Ending the era on top was the Trinity Shamrocks and the Woodford County Yellowjackets as the pair won each of their respective leagues.
With the high school season in the rearview mirror, it's time to take a look back at those who flashed the most during the spring.
Starting this off with those who saw their high school careers come to an end in recent weeks, here is a look at those senior offensive talents that impressed in 2024.

Huck Campbell
Huck Campbell
A dual-sport athlete who also played football for the Shamrocks, Campbell made sure to cap his high school career off with a bang. After collecting a ring in the fall with football, Campbell helped lead Trinity to its first lacrosse championship since 2017. A 60-plus point scorer, Campbell helped make up a strong attack along with fellow classmate Charlie Horner and junior [player_tooltip player_id='31912' first='Noah' last='Hollister'].
The Transylvania commit is a well-balanced attackman that can make an impact all over the field. While he is a very good shooter who can be dangerous from the outside, Campbell can also create as a dodger and is not afraid of contact. He also has great vision and passing skills as a feeder.

Charlie Horner
Charlie Horner
Another Transylvania-bound senior who helped create that strong attack unit for the Shamrocks. Horner had a tremendous senior season while helping to lead Trinity to a championship. The attackman really showcased himself to be a strong finisher and inside presence. He knows how to get to the rack and find the back of the net consistently. In many ways, he was just a good as a feeder. With over 50n goals on the year, Horner churned out a 60-plus point season.
Arguably the best pure shooter in the Bluegrass State, the Montevallo-bound attackman put together an extremely strong senior season while helping to lead Henry Clay to a championship game appearance. In that title game loss, Brooking put on an absolute clinic with six points off five goals and one assist. He ended the year with 123 points off 94 goals and 24 assists. A great shooter who's sweet spot is on that left wing, he also has good speed and IQ that makes him an all-around playmaker.

Lawson Cantley
Lawson Cantley
Having the ability to play both attack and midfield, Cantley led the Bearcats offense for a fourth season in a row. Once again, Cantley showcased his ability as a natural goal scorer all spring. Having a good deal of speed and quickness, Cantley was often seen being able to beat his man one on one and get his hands free for a shot on the run. He has range as a shooter but also is not afraid to take it to the rack if needed. He netted 81 goals in his senior season to end a record-setting career at KCD.
St. Xavier ran and initiated a lot of its offense this spring from the midfield. Heitmann was a big part of that effort and the offense as whole, being part of that first line along with junior [player_tooltip player_id='20802' first='Thomas' last='Andriole'] and [player_tooltip player_id='22692' first='Connor' last='Marks']. A strong shooter, Heitmann's sweet spot is on the left wing and about 10 to 12 yards out from the cage. From that area he did quite a bit of damage to opposing defenses, winding up for a shot and initiating off the dodge from that spot. He had nearly 40 goals and 50-plus points on the year.

A versatile player who knows how to initiate from all areas of the field, West was a 40-plus point scorer for the Shamrocks this past season as a senior. While dangerous all over the field, West was often at his best when operating from up top. A strong 1v1 dodger, he was often able to exploit his matchup and get downhill for the score. West also possesses a good deal of range as he helped stretch opposing defenses.

Jack Miller
Jack Miller
Originally from the Atlanta area and a transfer from Blue Ridge (Va.), Miller was tremendous for Collins this past spring. The Centre-bound senior put up over 100 goals as part of a 160-plus point senior campaign in which he helped lead the way for the Collins Titans. Having a nose for the goal, Miller most often showcased the ability to create for himself off the dodge. He also moves very well off-ball and gets into those sweet spots, where he can catch and shoot quickly.
