Expert Analysis
Eric Bretz | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Coyle played a tremendous role for the Pirates in their deep playoff run this season, winning 27 face-offs at a 66% win rate during the state tournament. In the Kirst Cup final, I had Coyle winning 13 of 14 face-offs, with his only loss coming on an illegal procedure. He was dominant from the X, with the ability to win it cleanly or rough it up for a ground ball and get possession for his team that way. The Middlebury commit was able to push transition when the chance presented itself and he also did a good job of communicating with his wing players as far as positioning. He is a smart, tough player with good size and solid stick skills which should translate well at the next level.

will be fun to watch this year. Both had a tough first half, winning a total of two face-offs. However, they fought back hard and when their team needed them late in the game, they came through in big spots and were able to control the face-off X and win possessions for the Pirates when they were looking to rally late in the game. Both Coyle and Angel only lost a single face-off in the second half, with Coyle winning four, so that’s something the coaching staff can build off of moving forward.
