A shortstick d-middie prospect with big upside, Rannigan put forth flashes of brilliance at both NHSLS and the Nike Nationals, where he was named the championship MVP for the victorious DMV squad. He plays with a noticeable amount of competitive energy and is a multi-sport athlete who can flat-out fly — the rate at which Rannigan gets from one restraining line to the other is incredibly impressive. In addition to being a stud in the open field, he’s able to force dodgers into low percentage areas and slides with force. I’d like to see him polish up his stick skills and continue to refine his technique, but there’s a lot to like about Rannigan, and he’ll only get better with two more years to play under Nic Bell at STAB.
