About Louie
Expert Analysis
Niko Amato | Prep Lacrosse Scout
Louie Marobella established himself as a suffocating defensive presence while helping Belmont Hill secure its second consecutive Independent School League championship as a junior. Louie was recognized as an All-ISL performer & All-New England Prep School Athletic Council Honorable Mention player in 2025. He is disciplined & physically imposing with strong stance integrity. Marobella sits low, shuffling his feet while staying locked in. He uses his power with the V-hold to time up checks & eventually jar the ball loose. Louie’s ability to apply pressure with control makes him a difficult matchup. He shows urgency in pursuing possessions, diving after ground balls & immediately transitioning play upfield. Marobella’s stick skills & awareness allow him to contribute effectively in the clearing game, quickly identifying outlets to initiate transition. He is a stud who can come down & rip it with a wicked overhand shot as well. Louie is reliable & always engaged in the action. He does not take possessions off, consistently staying connected while influencing play through positioning, communication, & effort. Marobella is a big pickup for the Blue Jays, who have long been thought of as Baltimore’s best. Signed to play at Johns Hopkins

Marobella drew one of the toughest assignments of the day for Belmont Hill, guarding

, a five-star UVA commit in the Class of 2026. The uncommitted defender rose to the challenge—and then some. Gilbane was held to just one goal, which came in the final minute of the game and not with Marobella as the primary matchup. Marobella was excellent both on and off the ball. On the ball, he moved his feet well, stayed glued to Gilbane’s hands, and never gave him room to operate. Nobles challenged him repeatedly in two-man actions, but Marobella was unfazed, navigating picks and slips with poise and discipline. Off the ball, he was just as reliable. He played with sound fundamentals, constantly scanning and turning his head to maintain awareness. Even with Nobles running frequent off-ball two-man actions, Marobella stayed composed and in position. For any programs still searching for a 2026 defender or LSM, Marobella would be a high-upside, late-cycle steal.

Between his big frame and the nonstop motor that he plays with, it’s pretty tough to miss Marobella, even on a club team that boasts two of the best defenders in the ’26 class. Marobella was a lot of fun to watch on film for Belmont Hill, and he made a significant impact as a sophomore and gained a lot of confidence as the season progressed. An asset on the wings and in transition, he constantly applies pressure to ball carriers and has an innate knack for hunting the ball to give his team possession, and those plays often led to goals this spring. I love his approach whenever the ball is on the ground: he’ll goose it to himself or a teammate when appropriate or pick it up cleanly and start a fast break.
