Carey Smith | Prep Lacrosse Scout
During the Crusaders’ loss to Hill, this Dartmouth commit displayed elite shooting skills as well as a quick burst and creative offensive instincts. Cook notched two goals in this game, and both were remarkable individual efforts. On his first goal, Cook dodged going right, rolled back to his left, made a quick burst into space, stopped, and then cranked one from 18 yards out. Cook’s second tally came when he pushed down the right-hand alley, stopped on a dime five yards out from the cage, and then rolled back for a left-handed rocket that found the back of the net. Dartmouth landed a gem in this multi-skilled attackman.

A big and athletic left-handed scorer out of the MIAA, Cook got better as the game progressed and dialed in his shooting with a pair of late goals in a tight game against Team Ten. Cook shoots a heavy ball and can bring it from range, and it’s clear that he’s gained a lot of confidence with his right hand since the spring, during which he got significant PT for the Crusaders. What’s incredibly impressive about Cook is the work he does without the ball: his feet are always moving and he’s constantly making well-timed cuts to create catch-and-shoot opportunities, and he finishes them at a high rate.
