McPhee’s best attribute is how well he handles pressure once he gets the ball off the ground. He scans and finds space at the same time, opening up lanes without dodging for the sake of it. He’s the kind of defenseman that frustrates attackers because he can match feet and get low, but also has the strength to turn dodgers back on their heels. Really an underrated prospect as far as the rest of this class of defenders is concerned. McPhee is a steal, even if only for his IQ on and off the ball, along with his physical attributes. He may stay in the pocket for an offer from a higher academic program longer than most would with his skill set.
