While the main focus this fall has been on the '28 class, and for good reason, a few '27 late adds deserve a mention. One of those players falls at the end of this piece, but the real run on SSDMs in this part of the window is also worthy of mention. Here are five players who have kicked off October with eyebrow-raising commitments.

A well-equipped creative finisher who can also carry the ball and initiate, Batchelor is earmarked to be a big piece of Middlesex's offense this spring. His best attribute is his ability to get his shot off with different release points and variations in traffic. If Batchelor gets the ball up top, he's going to find a way to get his shot off no matter who is guarding him. This summer with 3d New England, he was a handful for every shorty that sidled up to him, often pulling them out into no-man's land only to be set alight like a bonfire in a desert. Bryant has a history of turning players like Batchelor into consistent producers in the Bulldogs' offense, which bodes well for his college career.

Another hybrid two-way middie that every coach wants in their class, Wable is a speedy lefty who can run the channels as well as anyone. He is an exceptional power dodger and the last guy any goalie wants to see charging down the alley with the ball. On the other side of the ball, Wable is an exceptionally strong defender, playing hips and holding top side with alarming regularity. One of two Hobart commits that raised eyebrows this week, the other being Milton Academy slasher [player_tooltip player_id='178365' first='Dylan' last='Watson'], Wable is one side of a coin that was flipped a little late, but landed on heads up for the Statesmen.

The run on SSDM combo mids continued as Pritchett committed to Penn State earlier this week. He's also blessed with a name that sounds like a law firm. Do you need a one-man clear to get the ball down to your offense? Call [player_tooltip player_id='166667' first='Kane' last='Pritchett']. Is an offensive midfielder giving your rope unit fits? 1-800-K-Pritch. Have you suffered complications from a pinch-and-pop FOGO who can't stop scoring? [player_tooltip player_id='166667' first='Kane' last='Pritchett'] is here to help. There are few players in this class that are as game-ready as Pritchett from a purely physical standpoint.

When your highlight tape is so stacked that you need two parts to explain one summer, you might be a high-value recruit. Touch passes, one-on-one goals, cross-cage lever looks - Watson's highlight reel is, indeed, extensive. For Milton Academy, he is an exceptional matchup threat that gets deployed in multiple spots in settled sets. The fact that Hobart is the program that eventually landed Watson's commitment is intriguing to me. I think most people projected him as a D-1 player; the NESCAC option always seemed to loom in the background, as it does with most exceptional ISL players.

There is no angle too tight, no window too small for Mullahy to squeeze a shot through. A late add to the Brown class of '27, the wait for Mullahy's final landing place has been extensive.
He projects as a pure midfielder at the college level. Mullahy's subtle hitches are frighteningly effective, even against older players. If Mullahy can keep developing his close-contact dodges against larger poles, he's going to be the kind of weapon that Bruno needs when the shot clock starts ticking down. Not all the commitments that come in at this time of year are ones we will have to wait two years for.
