There is no angle too tight, no window too small for Mullahy to squeeze a shot through. A late add to the Brown class of ’27, the wait for Mullahy’s final landing place has been extensive.
He projects as a pure midfielder at the college level. Mullahy’s subtle hitches are frighteningly effective, even against older players. If Mullahy can keep developing his close-contact dodges against larger poles, he’s going to be the kind of weapon that Bruno needs when the shot clock starts ticking down. Not all the commitments that come in at this time of year are ones we will have to wait two years for.

There is something to be said for owning a go-to move. Mullahy has plenty in his bag, but his on-the-run lefty shot down the alley is elite. He has enough shake to get a step on his defender and the speed to make sure they do not catch up. He plays with a little extra whip in his stick, carrying his top hand low on his release to hide the ball and generate torque, allowing him to pull it low or keep it high on jump shots. At NHSLS, he showed more than just that alley dodge. He scored with his off hand, grabbed tough ground balls, handled clearing as a one-man option, and chipped in on the defensive end. That performance earned him All-Tournament Team honors. Given that he is the only nationally ranked midfielder on Prep Lacrosse’s board in this group, it is hard to imagine Mullahy staying uncommitted much longer.

The type of athlete who can absolutely fly from one restraining line to the other, Mullahy turned in another impressive campaign at Showtime, showcasing a bevy of qualities that will make him coveted just over two months from now. The younger brother of Brendan, an incoming freshman at Notre Dame — not to mention a Kavanagh cousin — Barrett has similiar athleticism to his brother and might be slightly more polished with his in the box offensive skills than he was at this age. He can score from range with just a simple flick of the wrists, and is able to create off the dodge on a regular basis. Mullahy is super explosive out of his rollback and is talented at getting shots off even with guys draped all over him.

The combination of Violante and Mullahy at midfield proved to be hard to stop, as the pair helped Prime Time bounce back after a tough Saturday to boost their squad in some notable wins in Sunday’s consolation bracket. Mullahy consistently got underneath the defense or got his hands free with a textbook rollback, posting two goals of his own in an impressive win over Mad Dog. Noticeably two-handed for a sophomore, Mullahy is exceptionally skilled and intelligent, operating with poise up top and getting defenses to rotate with his precise passes. Though tall and wiry, he showed guts when darting through traffic and dodged with purpose no matter how he chose to create offense.
