As we all know, this past Wednesday, September 9th, was the start of the contact period for Class of 2028 prospects.

A few coaching staffs from colleges in Pennsylvania came flying out of the gate and secured commitments from prominent 2028 prospects during Week 1. The University of Pennsylvania was on fire this week as Coach Wray and company received verbal commitments from five talented 2028 prospects.

Meanwhile, Penn State and Lafayette each secured a verbal commitment from a prized 2028 recruit this week.

Today, I wanted to review several of the players that each these programs pulled in during Week 1 of recruiting for 2028s.

Earlier today, Albert announced his commitment to the University of Pennsylvania. Quakers defensive coordinator Casey Ikeda is going to love this 6-foot-4, 215-pound versatile pole with an aggressive style. Albert is an intimidating defensive force who can cause turnovers by taking the body or via powerful stick checks. He excels at pressing out on ball carriers and then turning those opposing players multiple times. Albert is also a master at getting into ball carriers early in their dodge and stopping his opponents cold. On the interior, Albert's slides and double teams are always on point. Additionally, with his long wingspan and anticipation skills, Albert does a fantastic job of disrupting passing lanes. Albert's high IQ and polished stick skills make him a plus player in the clearing game too.

Brock is an attackman with considerable size and polished stick skills who earlier this week committed to Lafayette. Despite missing time during the 2026 high school season because of an injury, Brock still registered 24 goals to go along with 11 assists. The first item that pops about Brock's skill set is his ability to crank long-range shots into the back of the net. His power, quick release, and shot placement skills leave opposing netminders helpless. The precise aim on Brock's shot allows him to ping corners, score off hip, and execute crafty bouncers. Once Brock has established that perimeter shot, he will use a hitch-n-go move to cook his initial defender and then charge to the net for a 10-12 yard shot on the run. Brock can also use his cutback moves and elusive stick maneuvers to carry the ball to the crease area for a dunk. The Leopards coaching staff will love that Brock's non-stop motor and physicality make him a plus player on the ride. Brock also possesses all the intangibles college coaches obsess over.

Over the weekend, the No. 75-ranked prospect in our Class of 2028 rankings gave his verbal commitment to the University of Pennsylvania. Chari is a lefty goalie who possesses ridiculously swift reflexes, textbook technique, and poise beyond his years. Chari is incredibly skilled at denying scoring chances around the crease area. His patience, agility, and quick-twitch skills are the keys to his ability to make saves on those close-in attempts. Chari also does a fantastic job of tracking perimeter shooters and then using his active stick to make a clean save. This junior is well schooled in cutting down shooting angles and then popping off his line, too. Once Chari has possession of the ball, he can fire wisely placed and accurate outlet passes. Chari also owns enough athleticism to leg the ball out himself.

Today, Ika announced that he will be taking his extraordinary talents to Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. Prep Lacrosse's No. 26-ranked prospect in the Class of 2028 is a lefty attackman with a quick burst, a deep bag of elusive moves, and filthy shooting skills. This past spring, Ika poured in 60 goals and dished out 22 assists for Loomis. This multi-skilled attack does it all on the offensive end. Ika can score via catch-and-fire and opportunities from the low lefty spot as well as the wing. He also can generate scoring chances for himself or teammates by initiating from the wing, sweeping across the opposing defense, and then shooting or distributing on the run. Ika also thrives in unsettled action as he has a tremendous knack for turning GBs, turnovers, and rebounds into goals. The combination of Ika's field vision and feathery touch makes him an excellent feeder from X as well as up top. Ika's unlimited energy and speed make him a relentless menace on the ride.

Myslinski is a lefty goalie from Trinity-Pawling who announced his verbal commitment to Penn State this morning. That decision means the Nittany Lions have landed the No. 71-ranked prospect in our Class of 2028 rankings. Myslinski is an athletic, quick-twitch netminder with fast hands. That trifecta of assets combined with Myslinski's tracking skills enables him to make clean saves on rips from the perimeter. Myslinski is also a stone wall against shots from close range thanks to his patience, agility, and willingness to use any part of his body to make a save. Additionally, the Penn State staff will really enjoy how quickly Myslinski can scramble back to his feet, get into position, and then turn away rebound shots. This decorated 2028 prospect owns a high lacrosse IQ, too. That asset is obvious in Myslinski's smart clearing passes as well as the way in which he keeps the defensive unit connected through frequent communication.

This gifted LSM from Berkeley Prep in Florida kicked off UPenn's 2028 recruiting class by committing to the Quakers' program on September 9th. That announcement means the Quakers will bring in an athletic and fleet-footed pole who can impact a game at both ends of the field. This past spring, Watts recorded 25 goals, 10 assists, and 86 groundballs. Watts is a master at swiftly flipping turnovers and ground balls into scoring chances at the other end. With his elusive cutback moves and highly refined stick skills, Watts can carry the ball deep into the offensive end where he is a legitimate threat to crank a shot into the net. Watts thrives as a trail shooter on the fast break too. On defense, Watts wreaks havoc between the lines thanks to his ability to track down ball carriers and then use his aggressive stick to harass their hands. Watts also excels at sprinting out of the box, locating the ball, and then stopping the opposing team's transition chance. In 6v6 action, Watts will press out on a ball carrier as far as midfield and disrupt the opposing team's entire offense.

As we all know, this past Wednesday, September 9th, was the start of the contact period for Class of 2028 prospects.
