I felt like Lopiano showed some really promising flashes throughout the summer, providing plenty of reason for optimism heading into next spring, when he’ll be asked to step into a larger role for a program replacing an outstanding senior class. Playing with the defending state champion Blue Wave at NELS in late June, he put together some impressive film and made it clear that he’s put himself firmly in the mix for a starting role. Tall and wiry with great hands, he’s a smooth operator as a dodger and passer, as well as a rock-solid shooter from mid-range. While putting on some more muscle will be paramount, there’s a lot to like about what Lopiano brings to the table, including his decision-making and frequent involvement in scoring plays while playing for Prime Time this summer.
