From Westchester to Connecticut: Five More '28 Attackmen to Know

As always, there's no shortage of talent in New York's Section 1 and Fairfield County, and well-covered teams like 2Way and Eclipse are sure to be two of the more heavily coveted 2028 rosters once September 9 arrives. That said, plenty of attackmen from several other clubs are worthy of recruitment consideration. Today, we shine a light on five more who are worth knowing, <a href="https://preplacrosse.com/2026/08/long-island-2028s-five-more-offensive-playmakers-worth-knowing/">having done so for five names from Long Island in Wednesday's post</a>.    A 2027 who intends to do a postgrad year, Brock put forth a rather nice season for Briarcliff Manor, demonstrating an opportunistic nature with and without the ball. He owned that spot on the right-handed wing and made his presence felt with a ton of stepdowns. As a dodger, while he's not a burner by any means, Brock has a knack for how to get his hands free and frequently takes advantage of poor approaches from defenders. In addition, he does a terrific job of utilizing head and shoulder fakes, along with changing planes. A Showtime invitee, he showed off his physicality at the nation's top event, bouncing off of his defenders in his path on the way to the rack.     After seizing a starting role as a sophomore for one of the top public school programs in Connecticut, Cronin put together a strong summer and finished his circuit nicely at New Balance. While I wasn't able to see him until the last event of July, I liked what I saw in terms of his smooth and slick dodging style, ability to make his man miss in a multitude of ways, and how well he found cutters and the open man on the doorstep. What also impressed me is his confidence to let shots go that others wouldn't think of: around the net, he'll shoot even when he's almost below GLE and has just a sliver of net available to him. Overall, he's super smooth and has really good hands — I'll be intrigued to follow his progress in his second year as a starter.     A highly talented lefty, Hamilton first popped onto my radar this spring when he exploded for 34 goals, 34 assists (plus a whopping 56 groundballs) while earning All-FCIAC honors for the Warriors. He continued to impress throughout the summer, scoring a bevy of big goals in big-time matchups while showcasing his well-rounded skill set. He thrives as both a goal-scorer and passer and consistently does the little things extraordinarily well. His high energy and effort level also manifest themselves in the riding game, where he's known to hunt down the opposition all the way to the midline and regularly cause turnovers. At his best above the goal line, Hamilton is a wing dodger who has a knack for putting the ball in the back of the net in a variety of ways, including stretching a defense. He's sneaky off-ball, crafty, and creative, playing fast yet always within himself and while always taking care of the ball.     I felt like Lopiano showed some really promising flashes throughout the summer, providing plenty of reason for optimism heading into next spring, when he'll be asked to step into a larger role for a program replacing an outstanding senior class. Playing with the defending state champion Blue Wave at NELS in late June, he put together some impressive film and made it clear that he's put himself firmly in the mix for a starting role. Tall and wiry with great hands, he's a smooth operator as a dodger and passer, as well as a rock-solid shooter from mid-range. While putting on some more muscle will be paramount, there's a lot to like about what Lopiano brings to the table, including his decision-making and frequent involvement in scoring plays while playing for Prime Time this summer.     An All-CHSAA performer as a sophomore, Sykes was highly impressive each time I watched Iona Prep this spring. With opposing defenses often focused on the two D1-bound seniors on his attack unit, the savvy and hard-charging lefty consistently found ways to get underneath the defense or lose his man away from the ball before finishing appropriately. A tough, physical competitor, Sykes can score from low angles and while under duress, making him a reliable target around the cage while also generating plenty of zip on his shots. He wasn't asked to shoulder much of a dodging role in 2026, but there's little doubt that he's capable of doing so and should look to build confidence in that area, particularly as he becomes more of a focal point for defenses with his former linemates headed to UNC and High Point.
