Helping make up a fantastic recruiting class for ‘Nova, Thurlow is one of the more intelligent and fundamentally sound players in the entire Class of 2026. He netted two goals against Fairfield Prep, though he had some narrow misses and pipes on shots that I’m sure he’d like back, too. With the change of direction and first step that he brought to the table, he had defenders chasing shadows and got his man hung up on multiple occasions. As assertive as he is, he lets the game come to him and does an awesome job of protecting his stick to limit turnovers. Overall, he’s just someone who can be relied upon to orchestrate the offense and create scoring opportunities both from X and from the wings.

I’ve been a big Thurlow fan since the fall, and he followed up a strong November circuit by asserting himself nicely as a sophomore for the Blue Wave this spring. Although he started his Maverik campaign slow, he started to turn the corner on Tuesday afternoon, posting six goals and three assists over the final three games of the week. He’s smart and composed with the ball, and even when he wasn’t putting points on the board early on, he showed well and made the appropriate play. Once he started to hit his stride, Thurlow scored on a broken play off the ride, on interior finishes, via a smooth jumper, and on dodges to 5×5.
