Springfield’s offense never found its groove against La Salle, but one of the bright spots for the Cougars was Ellis. This sophomore posted one goal to go along with one assist and ran at SSDM, too. Ellis’s goal was the product of a well-designed set play. Coming out of a timeout, Ellis cut to the middle of the field, received a pass from the right alley, and then uncorked a sidearm rip into the net. During this semifinal loss, Ellis also proved he could initiate from anywhere on the field to create scoring chances for himself and teammates. At times, Ellis used his length and solid frame to play a physical brand of lacrosse.

Ellis posted two goals as well as an assist Wednesday night and showed a tremendously versatile offensive skill set. For instance, on his first goal, Ellis drifted into open space in the high crease, caught a pass, and then quickly fired an overhand shot into the net. On his second tally, Ellis swept across the Radnor defense, found open space in the middle, and then ripped a high-to-low missile while on the run. Ellis proved to be a poised initiator who could dodge from the wing or up top. His field vision, timing, and stick skills produced a host of creative passes.

In 2025, Ellis was a key rotational player for a Springfield squad that won the PIAA 3A state title. The Cougars lost a great deal of offensive firepower from that team to graduation, and this spring, Ellis will be one of the returners expected to step up and fill that void. In Springfield’s season opener, Ellis proved he is ready for that challenge by scoring a goal and handing out an assist. Ellis is a long and athletic midfielder with fantastic burst. He excels at getting downhill from up top as well as the wing and then shooting/distributing on the run. Ellis has also proven that he can blow past the initial defender, find open space, then slam on the brakes and rip from 15-18 yards out. Additionally, Ellis thrives in transition, where his speed and shooting skills make him a threat to go coast to coast for a goal.
