Shanahan’s defense was extremely focused on stopping Kupsey, but the Marquette signee still registered 2 goals to go along with one assist. His first goal was a beautiful effort where Kupsey dodged from X, turned the corner, and then fired a shot into the back of the net as he crossed GLE. Kupsey’s change of direction moves and versatile offensive skill set made him extremely difficult to defend 1v1. He was the recipient of numerous early slides as well as double teams and yet still had a significant impact on this game. The Marquette coaching staff will love the high lacrosse IQ Kupsey displayed last night.

Kupsey is an offensive machine with the versatile skill set and athleticism required to initiate offense from anywhere on the field. In 2024 he racked up 64 goals to go along with 33 assists and was a 1st Team All-Ches-Mont selection. Kupsey’s speed and ability to navigate through traffic enable him to thrive in the open field. Kupsey’s shifty footwork and creative dodges generate scoring opportunities for himself and others when he is operating on the wing or X. Additionally, Kupsey is a tremendous step-down shooter who can nip corners from deep on the perimeter. Off-ball, Kupsey has mastered the art of cutting into open space for a quick catch-and-shoot. As a nice bonus to his scoring skills, Kupsey is a solid distributor willing to make the extra pass.
