I’ve been very impressed with how well Langton has developed over time, so it’s fitting that he earned the FCL Training Award, getting rave reviews for his coachability, work ethic, and attention to detail in drills. A silent assassin of sorts, his situation is unique – originally an Army commit in the Class of 2024, he flipped to Penn as a ’25 in late June after racking up 35G/25A for the Friars and is interning at Morgan Stanley during his gap year. With that said, he seized the opportunity to compete at Best In Class and showed well as an aggressive and heady dodger, doing his best work above the goal line. In Game 1, Langton put in three goals and an assist, scoring his first when he beat his man from X and finished despite taking a big hit. From there, he scored in transition, rode the ball back and made an unselfish look to a teammate, then buried a backhander before the final whistle. In the next game, he attacked a pole in the second half for his lone goal. With excellent skills and prowess playing both attack and midfield, he could be a nice piece for Penn’s offense to work with, and his versatility will serve him well.

The Friars’ top scorer on the day, Langton showed off some incredible game sense and lacrosse IQ. He scored once as a dodger, taking a shortstick matchup behind the goal for an invert look, beating him clean to the right, and scoring from a sharp angle before a slide could reach him. He also scored off-ball multiple times. When Darien would slide to support a matchup, Langton was excellent at spotting the weak point in the Darien defense and moving to it, forcing perfect rotations and rapid recovery all day. He’s the type of player who is a nightmare to deal with for a defense because even without the ball, he’s always applying pressure.

When envisioning the prototypical attackman, Langton is what comes to mind. The dominant righty from St Anthonys is a strong righty dodger with all the tools at his disposal. As the weekend progressed Langton continued to show an ability to constantly make the right play. When dodging from behind Langton showed a very traditional and hard-nosed style going straight line while having the ability to read his defenseman and bounce to a re-dodge. What was most impressive was the constant commitment to being able to turn the corner and finish in front of the net. When inside Langton showed a more creative side finding different ways to finish the ball. As a passer, Langton consistently found skip lanes and the open man while also being a consistent and technical shooter. By the end of the weekend, it was clear there were not many more consistent and technically sound players than him. With a strong recent history of elite attackmen coming from St Anthony’s, it appears that Langton is next in line. Langton will also be a huge addition upon his arrival in West Point as Army continues to build off of their trip to the quarterfinals this past season.
