Expert Analysis
Niko Amato | Prep Lacrosse Scout
A physically imposing defender with a disciplined approach, Ethan Bramoff brings strength, footwork, and technical polish that allow him to neutralize top threats across multiple player profiles. At times considered a legitimate candidate for the top overall player in the 2026 class, Ethan chops his feet efficiently, controls angles with awareness, and uses a refined toolbox of checks to consistently dislodge the ball. Announcers have even called him a “cheat code” — a nod to his knack for creating game-changing plays.
A force down low who remains a threat on both sides of the field, Bramoff is the kind of player who makes having him on your roster feel like playing with house money. As a junior, he collected 40 groundballs, 15 caused turnovers, and 2 goals heading into the Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Athletic Association Championship.
His 2025 campaign showcased both his consistency and his potential ceiling. Ethan delivered a perfectly placed off-stick-low goal in a 13–8 victory over national powerhouse Malvern Prep (PA) and earned MVP honors vs. Don Bosco (NJ), contributing a strip and an assist in a 7–5 win that saw the Friars dismantle the Ironmen’s prolific offense. His steadiness and versatility were central to St. Anthony’s NSCHSAA (Class AAA) State Championship run, capped by a win over nationally ranked rival Chaminade (NY) in one of the sport’s marquee matchups. With the Friars finishing 13–4 and both programs inside the national top 10, Ethan proved he thrives on the biggest stages.
Signed to play at the University of Maryland, Bramoff projects as a plug-and-play, B1G-ready defender — blending physicality, discipline, and matchup IQ that have long defined elite Terp backline units. His two-way skill set and competitive maturity give him a real chance to contribute immediately at the next level.

Flipped from Virginia to Maryland…
This athletic, fast, and relentless pole is one of the highest profile flips of the fall. So, saying that Maryland has added a stud to its 2026 recruiting class in an understatement. Bramoff is a dominating force on the lacrosse field. He is an elite LSM as well as close defender and excels on the wing during face offs. Bramoff causes turnovers all day and is a ground ball machine. Additionally, he owns the discipline and agility to lock off an opposing team’s No. 1 option for an entire game. His high IQ and stick skills make him a plus player in the clearing game. Bramoff’s offensive skills are ridiculous too. He will not hesitate to carry the ball out of the defensive zone, then weave through the opposing team until he finds open space to unleash a missile. As a bonus to his skills, Bramoff owns all the intangibles college coaches love.

Bramoff, a Virginia commit, is a relentless playmaker who seems to be everywhere on the field when watching a St. Anthony’s game. He consistently makes an impact in the middle of the field whether it’s picking up tough ground balls, clearing the ball, or pressuring opposing midfielders on the ride. An offensive threat as well, he excels in transition, using his great stick skills to either finish plays himself or find the open man.

The Friars boast an impressive defense, and one of its key pieces is Bramoff. Though primarily an LSM, he played close defense in their game against St. John’s while still showcasing the attributes of a true LSM—athleticism, a willingness to take risks, and strong ball-handling skills. Two moments stood out from his performance. First, he sparked a fast break that led to a goal by

Given that he was dealing with a hamstring injury suffered in the Friars’ last game of the season, Bramoff’s summer campaign didn’t tell the full story. However, his spring did – he was phenomenal as a playmaker for the CHSAA champs as part of a 5-star tandem at LSM. This summer, he showed some grit by playing through it in a handful of tournaments and deserves a lot of credit for doing so, with his competitiveness and motor always evident.
Disruptive and impactful in a plethora of ways, Bramoff can muck it up when he’s sent out to the face-off dot and pick up key GBs all over the field. When the ball’s in his stick, he’s making the right decisions on the offensive end. While he has room to grow as a cover defender, there’s a lot to like about his ability off the ground and in transition, so it’ll be crucial that he finds a home with a style of play that suits his skill set.
“It’s tough because he didn’t play a lot of the summer because of his injury, but I still think he’s an elite talent and one of the best players in the class purely based on his ability to disrupt a game and pick the ball up off the ground,” said a recruiter at an NCAA Tournament team. “At that position, if you can’t disrupt a game and get it off the floor, you’re going to struggle. He checks those boxes and then some.”

Bramoff makes a strong argument for having the best stick of any high school longpole, rivaling fellow Long Island native Tyler Eye. The type of player that offenses have to account for at all times, Bramoff was always getting in passing lanes and snagging the ball out of the air before running fast breaks to perfection. In the All-Star Game, he posted a goal and an assist along with a pair of pretty caused turnovers, then continued to be an animal in Monday’s championship game, yard-saling a kid and sending his stick helicoptering into the air. When the ball’s on the ground, Bramoff gobbles it up cleanly the first time. He’s just a pleasure to watch — it’s easy to see why he’s considered to be one of the very best ’26s in the country at this early point.
