Ty Xanders | Prep Lacrosse Scout
A four-year varsity contributor and three-time MIAA champion, Hahn racked up 37 goals and 16 assists. The left-hander is as two-handed and intelligent as they come, possessing one of the best lacrosse IQ’s in recent memory along with the ability to boost the play of his teammates with his decision-making. While his athleticism isn’t known to be one of his strengths, he’ll make one move and get by his man before putting the ball in the back of the net. He’s a traditional North-South dodger who does a lot of things exceptionally well and knows how to play without the ball to increase his scoring chances. Although Syracuse returns a lot of firepower, it will be hard to keep Hahn off the field early in his career.

Hahn was one of the three most dominant players I saw on Saturday, right up there with Hocker and Danna. He walked away with the Leadership and Teammate Award, a byproduct of his attention to detail, willingness to take on different roles (like taking wings and getting back on defense), and his ability to lead by example during drills. While he was super impressive during gameplay, that all started with his approach to training, as he attacked every rep and was particularly brilliant with his skip passes. At the midfield position, his lacrosse IQ was unrivaled relative to his peers, though that came as no surprise. Hahn has the innate ability to find holes in defenses and pick them apart as if he knows how they’re going to play him before the play unfolds. He’s a lefty, but equally comfortable and dangerous with either hand, and he owned that right side of the field. During his four-goal campaign in the first game of the day, he scored two nearly identical goals, getting down the right alley against a shortstick and depositing a high bouncer.

A two-year starter for the McDonogh Eagles and a standout for Team 91 Maryland, Hahn is a big-time player who is used to the big stage. Throughout the two days, Hahn continued to show why he’s so highly regarded. Playing with a sense of calmness and control, Hahn let the game come to him and consistently made the defense pay. With deceptive speed and power and tough straight-line dodging he made play after play leading to goals or assists. Equipped with an arsenal of shooting angles, goalies could not get a read quick enough on his shots leading to the ball in the back of the net. An unselfish player, Hahn showed a great sense of reading the slide and timing passes perfectly leading to assists and hockey assists. This is a player who can fit in any offense and make a difference with or without the ball in his stick. While he is just a junior and has two years left with a loaded McDonogh squad we can expect him to be a perfect fit in the new-look Syracuse squad looking to make a return to Memorial Day weekend.
